Does your ambulance service do POC ketone testing?
Aside from DKA,
Are you also testing for euglycaemic ketoacidosis in unwell patients taking SLGT2 inhibitors ?
(Often times these patients don’t have diabetes- they have HF)
(We probably should be checking)

@RyanMarino Buprenorphine cannot come to the road quick enough.
Proliferation of naloxone has been amazing but it leaves me with a post OD pt who’s received 4mg IN & I have nothing to offer them to prevent withdrawal. Unsurprisingly many sign off prehospital or leave ED AMA quickly.

Paramedics of all settings, I implore you, if you were sending a patient to ED please do not tell them they *will* receive an investigation/treatment or be seen by X specialist. I encounter this often and it can lead to conflict. I suspect same is true for referring back to GP.

Harm Reduction is to EMS as fire prevention is to the fire service.
We’re some of the only people in medicine that get 1-on-1 time with patients even after we’re done with what we need to do.
That last bit of time on the ride in is valuable, don’t let it go to waste.
