@tojulius So how do we continue to generate value from content? What is the pivot for content?

I attended and spoke at dozens of events last year. I didn't go to a single content session. Not one.

Every event today should be the in-person touchpoint of a podcast or content-driven online initiative. Without owned, constant online touchpoints, there is little chance of survival in the next 5 years.

@tojulius How do you handle sound if content is in the same space as expo? I don’t think the silent disco headphones are liked by attendees or presenters.

Sending attendees to multiple rooms 2 miles away from the show floor is the top reason why exhibitors are churning. I have seen it in 1,000 feedback forms. I push the high st model with my clients

80% exhibitor churn is now a reality with many events out there. Many reasons. 1. Poor value provided during the events boom of the past two years 2. Profit maximization and low results commitment 3. Poor effort in drawing the right attendees.

@DaveSchoools Awesome. Thank you! And appreciate your comments on the headsets. I love the idea because you can have an event that feels more open… but as you mentioned it is kind of weird!

Just finished giving my talk to a packed out session at Event Tech Live in London. The most engaging part was my analysis of how AI marketing communication is doing today. And how we’re doing it backwards. Humans should be doing copywriting, not AI. AI should be doing data ops, not humans. Great thanks to Adam Parry and Event Tech Live for letting me tell the @Singulate_ai story and share a bit of our vision for what the future of B2B marketing and AI looks like. #etllondon24

I don’t understand the stubbornness of those talking down virtual events in favor of in-person. We kept saying during the pandemic they are two different tools. They serve each other extremely well. Virtual is the perfect marketing tool for in-person. In-person is the premium experience virtual helps build. Use every tool available to connect people. That is the job.

@tojulius Shhhh… don’t tell the industry secrets. We frequently do small edits on a keynote before posting the recording 😄

I am shocked at how many think that 600 views on an event recording are nothing. But that same event had 200 people attending live. 3x more. Oh yeah but they were more engaged in-person! Wait, how do you know? Are you tracking in-person engagement? Because you know exactly how much time they spent watching online. Bias and poor monetization strategies are the real issues.

@tojulius Virtual events are great for this purpose. So are video archives repurposed from the annual.

Is one annual event still a viable strategy in 2024? Can you abandon your audience for a year for your very aggressive competition to take over? Here is what I would do: Small Event Small Event Annual Small Event Small Event or Regional Event Regional Event Annual Regional Event or Monthly Virtual Event Social mixer around larger event Annual event and Constant social comms Daily content strategy
