🇺🇸/IRAN - The US isn't trying to open the Strait of Hormuz - it is literally blockading it and perpetuating a war that ensures insecurity around it indefinitely. The US is engaged in a controlled demolition of Middle East energy exports and a large part of the global economy dependent on those exports. It is playing games to manage prices and markets as it does so - NOT trying to find a way "out" of consequences everyone in Washington knew about before launching the most recent war of aggression. The US simply doesn't want things to collapse overnight - just like it managed Europe's decoupling from Russian energy (which is still taking place). Theories otherwise are based entirely on believing US statements at face value, as if the US is in the habit of telling the truth especially when things are going poorly? And yes, the US would rather pretend a bumbling president caused all of this by "accident" than admit it is deliberately imploding Asian energy sources and thus Asia's economy and beyond (just like it has to Europe already). That's why elections, the White House and the US Congress exist - a layer between the actual interests running US policy and the public - to serve as scapegoats and excuses easily disposed of and replaced every 4-8 years.

🇺🇸/IRAN/🇨🇳 US Blockade of Iran (and China) Continues 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) continues interdiction operations targeting Iranian maritime shipping. The US Marine Corps under the Biden administration was specifically tailored into an anti-shipping force specifically to take part in operations exactly like this (as well as to outright sink ships once sufficiently up the escalation escalator). Recall the 31st MEU was deployed amid the US war of aggression on Iran but before the US blockade was announced - meaning it was planned all along and not thrown together last minute due to the "ceasefire." The US is repeating for Asia, including China, and the Middle East what it has already done to Europe and Russia in terms of eliminating competing energy sources and imposing US energy dependence. In addition to seizing ships, the US has also reportedly redirected up to 91 ships in total as of May 21, 2026.

The US is spending over 1.5 trillion dollars of US tax money on "the arsenal of freedom" and what does the Department of "War" have to show for it? Cartoons. Because none of these things exist now, will exist for years to come, if they are built at all. Most of this 1.5 trillion is simply going to the net profits of the arms industry and big-tech at the expense of Americans. Much of any real construction will be outsourced to US proxies in Europe and East Asia because the steps required to ramp up industry in the US will never be taken (investing in education, making education accessible, investing in infrastructure, and things like accessible healthcare required to maintain a large workforce). None of these weapons are even required to protect the US within its actual borders - but instead maintain US primacy over the rest of the world. As long as Americans fall for the fake "left/right" political theater and the threat of literal cartoon villains "threatening" America - this game will continue - and both Americans and the rest of the world will continue to suffer.
