@bookazoid_ I heard (read) that from someone that worked at OCEAN and had direct contact with DID's team in the 90s. I didn't see the code so I'll just have to trust their word. But it's not crazy considering that BSP was known and a topic in older books like Foley & van Dam.

I like this 3D style a lot. Fast, low-poly, flat-shaded, low-res & flat dither. DID's F-29 Retaliator ran smooth even on the old Atari ST. Russel Payne is usually credited as the mind behind DID's graphics engine & they were using BSP structures for visibility years before Doom!
