I had the great pleasure of meeting with Mr. Eslam Fawky, CEO of Egypt Peace for Development and Human Rights, at @UNGeneva for a productive exchange on avenues for cooperation and partnership regarding shared priorities related to economic self-determination in #Africa.

Those conversations reaffirmed that indigenous self-determination and related rights remain essential to intercultural dialogue today.

Previously, in November 2025, I engaged with African royals and indigenous leaders across the continent during the G20 Social Summit (South Africa) & C20 Working Group on cultural diversity, recognition, and embracement.

I expressed strong support for the Rabat Declaration (2025) adopted by 32 African countries to create a binding instrument preventing child recruitment. It has received broad UN support. Gave also an interview to Agence Maghreb Arabe Presse #RabatDeclaration #ChildrenNotSoldiers

We examined how such narratives erode protective frameworks and complicate prevention. Emphasis was placed on sustainable reintegration—psychosocial care, family reunification, education and vocational training as mutually reinforcing pillars, not isolated interventions.

Honoured to participate in the Rabat International Declaration Conference Series, held on the margins of the UN Human Rights Council at the Geneva Nations Institute. The event brought together experts working to end the recruitment of children in armed conflicts.

I can confirm that I will be in Arusha, Tanzania (June 2026) as an invited expert on indigenous rights and self-determination at a major international conference. Thereafter, I plan further visits to deepen my expertise on the practice of self-determination in the 21st century

Looking ahead, I am honoured to be addressing several high-level conferences in the coming weeks. I will soon be announcing the universities where I will be lecturing, as well as the countries I will be visiting, to continue this important dialogue on self-determination

It was an honour to be invited to UN Geneva to offer my perspectives as an expert on post-Cold War secession. I was invited in the context of my book, Remedial Secession after the Cold War (BRILL), to provide suggestions and advice on self-determination conflicts in Asia
