@NomadSilk57993 @Pirat_Nation Looking into it further, it looks like this one is a "wait for my next PC build" game. My 5700xt seems to be somewhere between the minimum or low and recommended spec, so 1440p + 60fps isn't in the cards as-is.

If your pc can handle it, it's a buy. MOST of the negative reviews are >2 hours complaining about not understanding the story (no shit you've barely beaten the tutorial) or not getting the controls, which are indeed different from many but easy to pick up. The game is awesome.

Right, but those people you identify with and choose to interact with are always going to be a small subset of the people who happen to be in whichever government jurisdiction you're focused on (city/state/country). The only exceptions that comes to mind are very small insular communities (e.g. Amish) and maybe New Hampshire as libertarians choose to move there.

With the Switch 2's latest update, I decided to test the handheld's boost mode with Daybreak II. I'm impressed. While it still doesn't look as good as the PS & PC versions, it's better than without boost mode & the differences are much more noticeable on the Switch 2 itself.

The rise of “looksmaxxing” seems to indicate that many modern young men have little confidence that they can acquire gf through improving their personality or learning social algorithms like the 2000s PUAs, which is curious

@valigo They tend to only look at the top~1%? biggest games. Maybe less than that. Steam will probably get ~20k new games this year. Will IGN review 200 of them? The bottom half of the range is more appropriate for iffy indie games that didn't have multi-million dollar budgets.

That was always the case. The goal is to find the outliers who are receptive. Pretend that back then it worked 0.1% of the time and now it's 0.05% of the time. It'll still work, but it'll just take twice as long. But everyone saying "get off the apps" suggests that the PUA approach is probably more viable, not less. And if everyone stops trying the PUA stuff because it looks cringe, then there's an underserved subset of women ripe for approaching.

@chillbert32 @wastedsight @meadandjuniper The problem is that the entry point for both goals is the same if you're relying on dating apps (and increasingly that's the case). Being that ideal relationship person doesn't help if you fail the 0.2 second look test every time.

It's best to work on being the kind of person you'd want to spend your life with. You spend your life with yourself anyways, single or not

The "art" behind it was mostly just trial and error to an extent that is unappealing to most people. E.g. if you have an abysmal 0.01% success rate, if you try 10,000 times your odds of having at least one success are pretty good. And with practice, you should get better at recognizing more receptive women which will improve that success rate. It's like the dating equivalent of "fail fast".

Most relationships today form over dating apps where women reject men within a second of seeing one picture - his personality is never a serious consideration.

I think the lack of success is there before the looksmaxxing efforts begin for a given person. It's the default state for most men. Whether the looksmaxxing actually helps is a separate issue. They're just different tools to solve different problems. PUA - girl rejected you? Approach 100x more. You'll get better at it, feel less bad about failures, and eventually get a match. Looksmaxxing - girls all swiping left? Make changes to your photographic appearance so marginal left swipers are more likely to swipe right and you'll eventually get a match.
