The way the U.S. does things now — with school days that don’t align with workdays, hourly workers whose schedule change on a whim but whose child care options don’t, the lingering threat of Covid — it’s impossible to be a working parent and feel like you’re doing anything right.

Many of the 2.2 million women who dropped out of the workforce in the depths of the pandemic still haven’t returned, and it’s hard to blame them.

I wrote this @BW story on child care because I didn’t understand how something so expensive could produce an average salary of just $24,000 for caregivers. The answer is too complicated for a tweet so you’ll have to read the story, but… bloomberg.com/news/features/…
