@DOM_Frederic Man I’ll be honest. As a Cubs fan, Happ is completely avg. never been much of a fan of him. Zero personality on 670 aswell. 🤷♂️
English

@jr_solito Why is it a big deal that the White Sox have 20m in money for the draft now? Said a record of amount of money available for the draft. Why if there’s no cap and teams can overpay for slots? Which still makes slots moot if you can overpay them
English

@bmeredith83 It becomes that due to players wanting more overslot to sign outright to a mlb club/orgs willing to pay that over slot value in order to bypass their college commitments. It's been like this for awhile, but NIL in NCAA has made it even more important for MLB teams to have extra $
English

that brings the White Sox bonus pool up to $20,248,000, the largest in draft history

Trade news: The Pittsburgh Pirates are acquiring infielder Jacob Gonzalez and left-handed reliever Brandon Eisert from the Chicago White Sox for the 34th pick in tomorrow's draft and left-handed reliever Jaden Woods, sources tell ESPN. Deal is done.
English

@HalToHell @CespedesBBQ So MLB teams have an allotted amount of money to spend on each draft? Pitt gave their 2nd rd pick/money to the Sox? But what if a player won’t sign, It’s an auction?
English

@bmeredith83 @CespedesBBQ The team that drafts them gets exclusive 1-on-1 negotiating rights with that player. But the player, especially HS players, can choose whether to sign or not. That’s where the money and signing bonuses come in
English

@HalToHell @CespedesBBQ But why does it matter about the money? Is it a draft or an auction?
English

@bmeredith83 @CespedesBBQ High School players that are drafted in later rounds may be more incentivized to sign instead of go to College if offered a bigger signing bonus
English

@jr_solito So picks are slotted with a certain amount, why does money matter? Is it bc the player may not sign for a certain amount? Then why have slots? why is there an amount of money that teams can pay their own draft picks? Going over slot and overpay sounds like an auction & not draft
English

@bmeredith83 Players & picks are slotted at a certain $ value. Allows them to go over slot and overpay to secure top talent that other teams may not be willing to.
English

@jimmyjohns the hell is this? One slice of meat on the slim 2 with cheese. $8.09 for this is ridiculous

English

@jimmyjohns the hell is this? One slice of meat for a slim 2 with cheese. $8.09 for this is absolutely ridiculous

English

@Ecnerwal23 Yup, the one in Champaign, there’s never a single person. Sign always says open. I’ve always wanted to just walk in lol
English

@_Latitudinarian @CitizenF__ @scottpuryear Lol, I love how you have no idea of my soccer knowledge. Yet I ask one question and you attack me. Rules are rules and yet it’s all subjective. For the World Cup and people wonder why it isn’t big in the US. We just want to know the rules to learn.
English

@bmeredith83 @CitizenF__ @scottpuryear Since when are they allowed to do that in open play? Fighting for position on free kicks and in between cb/cf isn't the same?
The closest casuals could come to understanding it would be fighting for position in basketball.
Rules are rules, watch more games and you'll get it.
English

@_Latitudinarian @CitizenF__ @scottpuryear But why are players allowed to grab others by the collar and throw them down from behind and no yellow? Make it make sense please
English

@_Latitudinarian @CitizenF__ @scottpuryear Please explain. Was that play met with intent? You think it was red deserved, why? Explain to m like a toddler
English

@CitizenF__ @scottpuryear You're trying to explain math to a toddler. They'll never understand.
English

@EsteemSeeker77 @RhettReese Hmmmm, that happens to Kane and you feel the same way?
English

@RhettReese Awww LOOK…Another dumb American is flooding my timeline complaining about the rules and wanting to change them.
Without suspension from the next fixture(s), there is NO point to the Red card!
Yes it was harsh, but he still caused Serious Harm, which is a red card offence.
English

You cannot - in a once-every-four-years competition - that is largely a single elimination tournament - make a team play 10 on 11 after a red card, and then remove that team’s offending player for the next game. You just cannot, for ANY reason… let alone a silly, unintentional ‘infraction’ like tonight’s. Not when fans care, root, and spend this much. It ruins the product. And also invites corruption among referees.
English

@skurwysyna2 @DumornaySZN I really appreciate you talking through this with me. Honestly, it’s nice to hear from fans of soccer that are willing to talk about the rules of the game. My best friend was the top player in the state in HS and he doesn’t even know sometimes and disagreed with the red.
English

@bmeredith83 @DumornaySZN Ok, at least you’re consistent on that. But you know that intent is completely disregarded in the rule book, right? It doesn’t matter what Balogun meant.
English

@skurwysyna2 @DumornaySZN That’s all I want to know is. The rules!!! Not subjective!!!
English

@bmeredith83 @DumornaySZN Good question! Often these calls don’t get made if there is a mutual bit of tussling, but at other times they do. Refs often delay corners due to such mutual activities. It is a difficult rule to implement consistently though, so it is understandable to be frustrated by it imo.
English

@skurwysyna2 @DumornaySZN Absolutely not, it was a natural play on the ball with zero intent. Tough break
English

@bmeredith83 @DumornaySZN I got a question for you - had Balogun broken his leg/ankle, do you think a red card would’ve been fair?
English

@skurwysyna2 @DumornaySZN Ok, but why can’t players purposely grab other guys by the shirts and shoulders and tackle them without getting a yellow? Those guys are getting horse collared and nothing called
English

@bmeredith83 @DumornaySZN This is considered dangerous as it has a very high chance of injuring the player. Balogun is lucky he doesn’t break his leg. And studs up is very consistently given as a foul as that is the rule, regardless of whether you think it’s dangerous or not.
English

@skurwysyna2 @DumornaySZN Also, you said tried to go through on a header. What does that mean? You can’t go towards the ball in the air? There’s no single possessive position in soccer.
English

@skurwysyna2 @DumornaySZN You use your feet to play the game! Studs up or not it’s a hard game to play in general.
I understand the studs. This was not it. They were going after the ball. That was not a dangerous challenge. It was a competitive play and one guy got there first.
