Want to get deals done quickly? Have the player communicate he only wants that team (coach) instead of being simply open to that team (coach).

How do you know we haven’t? Look man I’m an executive. There is a ton of stuff people believe is happening when we are doing deals and they are far from the truth. I believe Spurs did offer 85/100. What that does to a negotiation is tell the selling team their valuation was right. Now they have a price point in the bag to other interested teams. Brighton sold JPVH at 52 because they KNEW if he left he was only going to Spurs. So they took that deal. If he was I tested in other clubs and someone was willing to match 52 or go higher we may not have got him. The player has to help Spurs here if they really wanted to go. It’s one thing to really want to go to a club, it’s another if it’s just the best deal at that time.

But the things is Grant, if the player wanted United and United wouldn’t pay that amount then that tells us the value wasn’t 85 but really 65. However, now if United come back and pay the 85 that tells us that WHU stuck to the value until a club the player really wanted to go came to the table with the deal they wanted. As I have said, being open to Tottenham means if no club is playing what WHU wanted except Spurs and the personal terms were good, the deal would have been done. But if someone else has indicated they would be willing to match Spurs term and the player wanted that club more, then it’s not much Spurs can do

No Fernandes No Tonali, Van Hecke won’t be enough to keep De Zerbi happy. The man has earned the transfers he wanted, it’s not about my opinion it’s the reality. De Zerbi not happy loses the passion commitment and once that rot sets in he leaves it’s that simple. This ain’t Thomas Frank who will be walked all over, Vinai is earning £1.5m a year so I expect outcomes not excuses in a timely fashion. Vinai chose to build a team of football executives with no elite experience in their roles he has to make it work no BBC interview where you call your own work an embarrassment will cut it this summer.

Them being at the table to negotiate shows they are willing to back RDZ. Nobody (include WHU, NUFC, ManU) expected Spurs to be there. These are new dynamics. They always known Spurs had money. Now they know are trying to figure out how much of Sours money can they get. Spurs have to avoid the mistakes Chelsea made in the beginning of the BlueCo era. Spurs will pay whatever fee for a player that truly wanted Spurs (like Van Hecke). But they not dropping maximum dollar for a player who is simply just open to them

They’ve both accepted terms with us contract wise it’s just the fees with the clubs they’re having trouble with. Both players are also open to other clubs which means all comes down to that extra fee. The statement they put out after the season they ‘promised’ us things would change so keep your promise and back the manger and pay the fees.

Paying the extra 10m is no easy thing. Easy for us fans on the outside looking in, but as a CEO myself I understand why a business simply won’t do that. Especially if the players say we only want Spurs in both deals. Then the selling team will have to take the deal on the table. But as long as the player is open to other teams, the selling club can wait for the best outcome for them and the player. And that’s what is happening. That extra 10m don’t close the deal. Deal is close when all 3 parties are good and that hasn’t happened.
