@rhofford A lot of posters here are missing the fact that these are cost SHARE initiatives. The government is not covering 100% of the project. The producers are still out of pocket for the lion's share of the project.

@BrettRace @rhofford It's not a 100% coverage of cost by the government. It's a cost SHARE initiative. Depending on the project the government usually covers 10% to 35% and the producer pays the rest.

@rhofford What kind of grain dryer do you get for $45k. The sad part is that $2M grain handing system would, and I'm not joking, cost $200k from a Chinese manufacturer. It would cost you more to ship it from bc to saskatchewan than it would be for the entire setup. But hey, patriotism.

Agnonymous News. Equipment piling up due to low grain prices after a record harvest I guess.

@Kotyjo Likely someone who has a few thousand (or more) acres paid for and is working on the law of averages. If for every acre they pay $200 rent for they have an acre bought and paid for, the average cost per acre is only $100. Farm more acres, make the same money in the end.

Ok math isn't adding up on a recent land rent deal in our area. We can't grow corn or durum or lentils do to usually excess water in June from the sky. $155.00 year one. $165.00 year 2 $175.00 year three. So why rent to lose money?

@EricPankratz @Kotyjo I've been hearing that a crash is coming "next year" for 25+ years. Never happens. Too much quota, old/old country money in the game for a significant crash to happen.

@Kotyjo Saw this before in the 1980s. Times got tough and the bankers came a knocking . And then the auction date was set. It’s just a matter of time.

@SuperMikhail1 @Mochapup44 South Western Ontario is in the $300-$500/acre rent range. Eastern Ontario will not be as high as South Western Ontario, but if you are only getting $50/acre you're getting screwed, even in Eastern Ontario.

@Mochapup44 $300-500 per acre For rent??? Our land produces very strong soybean results and we charge $50/acre for rent but obviously would like more while being fair.

@clintwfischer Here in SW Ontario 750 acres of workable land would run $15 million+, and the return from crops would only cover maybe 1/2 the mortgage if lucky. You would have to have one heck of an off farm job to float $15 million in mortgages.

To those who say you can't be a 1st gen farmer... I spoke with a Canadian one last week. Over the past handful of years he's been able to buy 750 acres using their version of Beginning Farmer loans. → Day job in the oil & gas industry → Swaps labor for use of equipment to put in & take out the crop → Currently ~$600K equity in the land Now he's identified a few neighbors w/ no successors to approach about expanding. 3 main goals: • Lease/buyout an entire equipment line • Lease land w/ ROFR or option to purchase • Scale back day job as farm expands Thankfully he's been building relationships with some of those neighbors over the years. His next step is to put together a detailed plan with various options, and bring it up to those retiring neighbors. I post this for one reason: To encourage & motivate hopeful 1st gens.

@hagerty125 @JohnDeere 300CX doesn't list any compatibility for a 2R series, they are for the older 3000 and 4000 series

How the hell can I not find a @JohnDeere h-130 loader for my 2025r tractor. Every dealer ship tells me they can’t even order one. Why would I want to stick with this brand!?

@JLepelaars A lot of pig and dairy farmers selling out to other pig and dairy farmers and then building broiler barns...less work for a better return (than pigs anyway)..as long as you already own land and have the several million to build the barn and buy the quota

Could someone please explain to me why there is so many chicken barns going up. With the quota being high in price and barns not cheap to build is this not a loss? Every time I look into this it’s 50-90k in the hole a year. ?? Am I doing the math wrong ??

@hagerty125 @JohnDeere The 220R would be more of a direct replacement for the H130. The 2016 and older Gen 1 2025Rs were more of a larger frame tractor like the older 2320 tractors, vs the smaller 2017 and newer Gen 2 2025Rs

@hagerty125 @JohnDeere JD Parts lists mounting brackets for 2025R MY2016 and older under the 220R loader. So if you have an older 2025R may need to go up to the 220R.

@OntAg @HandsorPaige So "soil fertility", "biodiversity" and "reduced compaction" are what we're calling swampy pasture land now 🤣

@Deere_Salesman Different in the USA ,but in Ontario idk any that use JDF for anything other than charge acc't at Deere.Deere dealers used to 'in house' monthly billing, then it all went to to JDF .Probably to get there money sooner, not chasing unpaid bills.

@JoshBoersen By law in Ontario drivers must attend an instructional school and perform a set number of classroom hours and practical hours with a certified instructor to receive the A portion. Z endorsement can be done in 2 day course before A.

Does anyone know if you can still write your 'A' and 'Z' and drive with a licensed driver to practice before having to go through all the school business? Want to onboard someone the right way. #ontag

@Deere_Salesman Lots of uses for it. Setting boundaries, spreading clover/cover crops, seeding pasture, spraying small areas, mapping tile drains, soil sampling, etc.

I forgot to add from Large Ag Training, auto steer on gators is really cool. I’m trying to find an application for it for any of my guys, but sometimes it’s okay to just think things are #neat
