This entire thing is the making of those who were unwilling to be open and honest with those over whom they were making decisions. This is compounded by the fact that there were clearly too many cooks in the kitchen. The lack of transparency meant squabbles between different camps reigned supreme rather than the disagreements being out in the open, as is a basic requirement of democratic politics. Instead, a giant, cataclysmic game of chicken ensued, and now things are in tatters. The hopes and dreams of millions destroyed. Both sides can point the finger at one another, but it's a collective failure that's been brewing for years, long before Zarah even got involved. As such, I don't think it is fair to lump all of this on her. Jeremy is just as much to blame, if not more so, due to his unwillingness to curtail the actions of some of those around him. He's a good man, but he is inclusive to the point of being exclusive, that is undeniable. These people are humans, not Gods. A culture that treats politicians as such is largely what led us here. At this stage the only way forward is for all involved at the top to admit they fucked up, abdicate having a role moving forward, and for all sides to call upon the grassroots to seize the initiative. Democracy is when the governed govern themselves. In the context of a socialist party, that means no Party King or Queen, or their Court, to whom we must all obey, trust, and display fealty, but a Party Republic, in which all are equal, and none more equal than any other. This was, and is, the only viable road ahead.
