I forced myself to read this. I felt physically ill. It is even worse than I imagined because it is unimaginable. It’s about a 180 page report that took 2 years based on 10,000 photos, 1,800 hours of video and the testimony of over 430 survivors, witnesses and medical staff. The report describes "a recurring pattern of rape and gang rape; sexual torture; mutilation; targeted shooting to the face, head and genital area; forced nudity; binding and restraint; genital burning; objects inserted into intimate areas; post-mortem sexual humiliation; and execution during or after sexual assault." And remember Hamas threatened to do it again and again and again. The report has the contributions of dozens of leading figures in their field and is endorsed by eminent people such as Ambassador Isabelle Rome (France’s Ambassador at-Large for Human Rights), Alice Wairimu Nderitu (Former UN Under-Secretary-General and Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide), Noëlle Lenoir (Former Justice on the French Constitutional Court), Aharon Barak (Former President of the Supreme Court of Israel) and Mukesh Kapila (Former Special Adviser to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights). But it has got less attention - certainly among some - than the NY Times opinion piece deliberately (it seems) released the day before that claims Israel trains dogs to rape Palestinian prisoners. The main source is a Hamas-affiliated org that has also claimed Israel has transplanted organs from dead Palestinians, dug out of graves, into living Israelis. Helen Clark has tweeted the opinion piece twice, noting it is “shocking”, but nothing about the investigative report that came out the next day.

Chris Hipkins appeared on HDPA to defend his comments that Aucklanders have moved on from the long lockdowns and don’t hold a grudge against Labour — and it went exactly as expected.

Chris Hipkins flew into Auckland today claiming he wants to “unlock Auckland”. The irony is breathtaking. This is the very man who locked Auckland down in the first place, and the Royal Commission found he did so against public health advice. Aucklanders haven’t forgotten what that meant. They remember being locked out of saying goodbye to dying family members. They remember their kids shut out of classrooms. They remember the small businesses that closed their doors for good, the elective surgeries pushed back for months, and the spike in ram raids that happened because of a soft on crime approach. Our city is still bearing those scars. Yet Hipkins had the audacity to suggest today that it’s only Newstalk ZB who ever raise the lockdowns with him. That tells Aucklanders everything they need to know. He isn’t listening, he hasn’t learned, and he seems to think a huge chunk of this city simply doesn’t count. Newstalk ZB happens to be listened to by a great many Aucklanders, and those Aucklanders are the ones he is dismissing. Hipkins owes this city an explanation, not another flying visit and another spin line.

Chris Hipkins talks about "unlocking Auckland's potential"... funnily enough Auckland just wanted to be unlocked from his mammoth lockdown last time he was in charge.

Auckland ratepayers are paying an average of $75 a year each on a “climate levy” or “climate change charge”. Has our money helped the Auckland climate or is it just an excuse to have huge numbers of highly paid staff all sitting around wondering what they’re going do each day?

Oh, the irony. And of course while they attack @aniobrien, who puts her name to her work, we learn that a former Labour staff member attacks Christopher Luxon from behind a pseudonym, and that Chris Hipkins knows who they are. Hypocrisy much?
