@brnsnx I had the same experience and attribute it to a flooded designer market and so many remote positions. Jobs have 100’s of applicants within minutes and that overloads the recruitment process. I still get rejections from months ago.

The tech industry is crazy. I was somehow easily able to land my last two design jobs just by word of mouth from friends. Now it’s been 2 years since my full time role and I still can’t land a design job. Why is it a lot harder this time around?

Once again, #UX and #ProductDesign friends, I need your help: If you graduated from a University Design or UX program* — and feel it prepared you well — please share it here in the comments. *NOT independent bootcamps. University only. 🙏

so cool that the number one cause of panic attacks is simply having the thought “wouldn’t it be crazy if I had a panic attack right now”

@caitiedelaney It worked on me. I watched two episodes. I guess I’m a good sheep. But that was enough.

@maxisneh @historyinmemes Per Mary Roach’s research most people pass out in fear response when falling from those heights.

@historyinmemes No one is even talking about the pain the steward pass through before she died, probably fell inside a sea or inside a forest.

Aloha Airlines Flight 243 was a scheduled flight between Hilo and Honolulu in Hawaii. The flight departed from Hilo International Airport on April 28, 1988, with five crew members and 90 passengers on board, bound for Honolulu. After a routine takeoff and ascent, the aircraft had reached its normal flight altitude of 24,000 feet when a section on the left side of the roof ruptured. The top half of the aircraft's skin, extending from just behind the cockpit to the fore-wing area, which was approximately 18 feet in length, was ripped off, leaving a gaping hole in the roof. The crew quickly declared an emergency and diverted to Kahului Airport for an emergency landing. During the approach to the airport, the left engine failed. Nevertheless, they were able to land safely on Runway 2, thirteen minutes after the incident. Sadly, one flight attendant was ejected from the airplane and her body was never found. However, miraculously, every other person on board survived the incident.

@cwodtke I rely on my PM to make scope, schedule and business decisions about the product. I let him tell me to stop perfecting the solutions and to post designs to the dev team. I often look to the PM when I am blocked and need customer/user information.

I could use a hand with a heated discussion I'm having, and I know you are all the perfect folks to answer: what are all the things that a UX designer does that a product manager doesn't do as well or is an educated for. What is the unique value of a UX designer?
