@bongoforone @bluewdrift Absolutely. It's missing quite a lot isn't it? It has no space for jokes, comments at the expense of a third party, invitations, requests for advice, apologies, yadda yadda. I'm with the therapist if we specify 'story based conversations' only
English

my therapist changed my life when he taught me there are 4 types of conversation:
1) small talk (weather, etc)
2) swapping (you tell a story, I tell a story)
3) listening (you tell a story, I listen/validate)
4) problem-solving (you tell me a story, I help solve the problem)

normalize not bringing up a similar story about yourself when someone is telling you something about themselves, just listen

@bongoforone @bluewdrift It’s a version of 2 if the person is open

@bluewdrift I feel like this is missing an important 5) dialecticization (something like we bounce of each other back and forth observations about a topic until some new thing is landed on)

@ladybugging_ @spoonfulofglass Have you seen them live — without a doubt one of the absolute greatest live bands — that’s where they truly shine
English

@spoonfulofglass they don’t suck that bad but nin are really underwhelming

@steelydante Was a band I was kinda lukewarm about like “they seem fine but why all the acclaim” and then literally 20 years after hearing them I randomly went hmm I should try that again and was like fuck this is among the best music ever made

OK FINALLY let’s go !!

@tamespeaker Saw this band recently … hadn’t jammed this record in a decade or two and they played a ton of it and I was pretty floored

@funkentechno Bought this from Walmart in 1995 and diamond sea led me to dead’s dark star and merzbow etc and it was a key moment in my life
