my therapist changed my life when he taught me there are 4 types of conversation: 1) small talk (weather, etc) 2) swapping (you tell a story, I tell a story) 3) listening (you tell a story, I listen/validate) 4) problem-solving (you tell me a story, I help solve the problem)

Dad's walking has deteriorated a lot over the last few days. He has just given in to using a wheelchair indoors. Drug info for Keytruda says muscle weakness can be a side effect. How to know what's disease and what's the drug? Both still saying I should go back to Wales tomorrow

@outbreakupdates I was told when I was doing a holistic diet and I couldn’t afford organic. To Take my vegetables and lettuce and soak it in cold water with 1 tablespoon of bleach. The produce will take in the bleach water and leak out all the pesticide/insecticides. Do it in the sink

This outbreak is a reminder that fresh produce has no sterilization step before it reaches your plate.

Farmers could apply for special dispensation for their most useful and productive son to stay on the farm rather than be sent to war. I have paperwork of my great-great uncle's farm where the committee made him decided between his two sons. He chose the youngest to stay and work and his eldest had to go off to war.

I've pieced together this incredibly rare & precious Edwardian colour movie, filmed 118 years ago at Upton Manor Farm in Southwick, England. This is the Autumn Harvest of 1908, showing rural life in the UK just 7 years after the end of the Victoria Era, when our life and work was considerably less mechanised. This is amongst the earliest British colour films, which was made via Kinemacolour, developed by George Albert Smith in 1906. It employed a spinning 2-colour filter system of red and green filters to replicate "full colour". The separate colour frames line up pretty well, except fo shots of lateral movement, such as the horse's legs where the individual coloured filters become much more apparent. The music I've used is the Largo movement from Dvořák's Symphony No. 9, "From the New World", which is rather ironic considering the film shows us scenes of the Old World long gone. Watch until the end, which leaves us a charming little love story. Though perhaps she waved her fellow off to War on the Western Front 6 years later... (One of my hobbies is to collect old colour film footage, and if you enjoy this example I might share a few extra videos on my account)
