Crunched these numbers on Travis Head, and it confirms what we thought... He's far more likely to make runs if he's protected by the top order, which he often hasn't been across the last 2.5 years. - In his last 42 Test innings batting in the middle order (dating back to the WTFC Final in 2023), he's made 4x centuries & 6x 50s. - Each of these four tons have been made after coming in after the 22nd over. - Just one of his six 50s have been made coming in before the 15th over. - When he comes in after the 22nd over he averages 43, when he bats before the 22nd over his average drops to 28. - It makes perfect sense why he bats at 5.
