At the final stage of the attack, the drone turns off communication and becomes fully autonomous. It compares images from its cameras with a pre-loaded map of heights and terrain in real time. This makes the drone invisible to detectors and invulnerable to electronic warfare systems.

Yes, terrain following navigation has been out since 70s but it is massive and expensive, just like touch screens have been out since then. This is a miniaturized, more efficient and much cheaper evolutionary step. Same as iPhone was for touch screans 40 years after first touch screens were on the market.
