BREAKING: @JPenaMelnyk and @SenBillFerg announce a special session related to midcycle congressional redistrict will be held Aug. 3-5. The session would likely only clarify the state constitution with regard to a 2022 court decision and include no new maps.

Gray succeeds Maureen Regan, who leaves her position as Moore's deputy communications director on April 14 for a position as communications director for the National Governors Association.

Gray Joined the administration soon after Moore was sworn in. She left Moore's office briefly in 2024. During that time she was deputy research director for the Biden, then Harris, campaign for president before returning to the Office of the Governor.

Office of the governor named Elizabeth Gray the new Deputy Communications Director. The announcement came in an email to staff early Friday afternoon. She is currently Director of Research and Strategic Communications. She assumes her new role on April 15.

Proponents of the bill argue that the salary for what is considered a part-time legislature are insufficient. that it is difficult to secure some outside employment because the General Assembly meets 90-days of each year.

This bill would not just allow counties to hire lawmakers who do not currently work for them. It would allow the state to do the same.

Intersting debate in the Maryland General Assembly over Sb 618, legislation that would clear the way for lawmakers to take government jobs in State, local and municipal government. It's a practice that has been banned - for the most part - for almost 30 years.
