I’m heading to Washington DC today to engage with economic ministers at meetings of the G20 and the IMF and World Bank. My five areas of focus will be joining with other countries in continuing to call for an enduring ceasefire and an end to the conflict, working with partners to amplify our efforts to help secure Australia’s fuel supplies, strengthening our supply chains, calibrating our Budget forecasts with expectations, forecasts and developments in the world economy, and promoting us as an investment destination.

Vic Labor just announced they now have a Minister for Cost of Living. Never mind they’ve added or increased over 60 taxes since they came to office. Nor the institutionalised corruption siphoning off billions. Victoria just keeps getting more Orwellian by the day.

Today I've announced a new Cabinet – a strong, united Labor team focused on what matters most: making life easier, safer and more affordable. Because Labor governments exist for one reason: to make life better for working people. That's what drives every decision we make. And right now, the biggest pressure on working people is the cost of living. It's the pressure Victorians feel every day – at the checkout, at the bowser, around the kitchen table. Pressure on family budgets and family time. So that's where this team is focused. For the first time, Victoria will have a Minister for Cost of Living - Paul Edbrooke – who will continue the important work of delivering real relief where it matters most. And we welcome our new Ministers – Michaela Settle, Luba Grigorovitch and Paul Hamer – who will fight every day for Victorian families. We're ready for the work ahead.

Yesterday, I spoke with Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian, as well as with U.S. President Donald Trump. I urged the resumption of the negotiations suspended in Islamabad, the clearing up of misunderstandings, and the avoidance of any further escalation. It is essential, in particular, that the ceasefire be strictly respected by all parties and that it include Lebanon. It is equally important that the Strait of Hormuz be reopened unconditionally, without restrictions or tolls, as soon as possible. Under these conditions, negotiations should be able to resume quickly, with the support of the key parties concerned. France and the United Kingdom will also host a conference in Paris this Friday, bringing together by videoconference non-belligerent countries ready to contribute, alongside us, to a multilateral and purely defensive mission aimed at restoring freedom of navigation in the strait when security conditions allow.

My thoughts on the Liberals’ extreme, race-based migration policy: This Trump-style policy will go after Chinese families, Muslims, and even Christians from places like Lebanon and Iraq. It's just unaustralian. In this country, we care about who you are, not where you're from.

The cost of an AFL appeal for a tribunal decision is $10,000 (refundable in the event of a successful appeal). You would think a Port Adelaide football club desperate to show Zak they are doing everything in their power would pay the cash. They would weigh it up against the cost of the distraction ahead of Saturday's Hawks game but surely this is the issue you die in a ditch over as a club to back your acting skipper
