Labor is the party of aspiration, including the aspiration to get a better job. From next year, we'll ban noncompete clauses for anyone earning under $190,000. My speech to Labor's National Conference. #auspol
GET THE FACTS: There’ve been 30 times the number of businesses starting up than closing down each day on average under Labor, and insolvency rates are almost half what they were under the Howard Government.
More new businesses were created in June, after the Budget, than in any other month on record.
Here’s what I’m going to do in response to the CGT changes.
1. Renovate my PPOR to increase its value (instead of investing that money)
2. Put as much as I can into super with extra non concessional contributions
3. Shift all high risk investing into SMSF and possibly a company
4. Increase exposure to low-growth income outside of super. Buy and hold. Realise as little gain as possible.
Questions:
- Will this result in more, or less, tax revenue for the government?
- How many young Australians will this help buy a house?
So pensioners will still get the 50 per cent CGT discount, but self funded retirees earning under 45 thousand dollars a year will have to pay the minimum 30 percent tax rate. What a fucked up government. Labor are driving people onto welfare.
Anyone still whinging about the new CGT laws is either:
Rich and losing a rort, or
Ignorant, or
A Murdoch journalist, or
A demented One Nation supporter, or
All of the above.
Economic reform and especially tax reform is always difficult, but when it makes it easier for first home buyers and fairer for workers it’s worth it. @60Mins@9NewsAUS#60mins#auspol
Ask yourself.
WHY are the media barons and mining billionaires, so rampantly supporting Pauline Hanson?
WHAT is in it for them?
WHAT has she promised them for their rabid support?
A dishwasher in a cafe/restaurant will now earn $78/hr on a public holiday. A dishwasher/kitchen hand. This is the base rate, it goes up from here.
How are small business owners going to survive this?
Unpopular opinion-This is insane!
@NannanBay Our tax money also funded $400m on a referendum that divided the nation based on race, $20m to tell us to remove our roof racks, and whatever it cost to fly Albo's son down to Melbourne to have some quality one on one time at the tennis.
Some just don't get it. Taxes pay for our services. Taxes support community programs. The LNP and ON would rather cut services like health and public education so they could give bigger tax cuts to their rich mates.
By not taxing unrealised gains it's an 'interest free loan from the government'
We really are going to try and speed run the communist experiment again aren't we?
I can't believe this is an opinion held by anyone within shooting range of our government.
Wow.
@SimonBanksHB Are you referring to the $0.68/day tax cuts that anyone with aspiration will pay many times more than that to achieve? Wow, I can't imagine why...
Did the taxes for a small jewellery business today. Hard working husband & wife, makes $300k profit, run through a family trust, distribution 50/50 to them both, no tax mischief.
Under the current rules they pay $60k in tax.
Under @JEChalmers new rules they'll pay $80k in tax.
Dave Hughes a wealthy celebrity in professional decline has decided to tell a Labor government with a record majority in the House of Representatives how they should govern the rest of us?
I really don’t give a stuff what he thinks & I’d like to see less of him in the “news”
While the “founders” on this site rally to Murdoch & Gina’s anti-labor trumpets actual business investment in the real world is GROWING with Labor in government
Australia is a great country to live, work, invest and build a future
Despite what weirdos on here might say…
Minimum wage workers are now earning $12,000 more a year since Labor came to Government.
Every year the Fair Work Commission reviews the minimum wage.
Our Government has backed a pay increase for minimum wage workers every single year - five years in a row.
