Sometimes the universe just hands you opportunities and lets you decide if they’re worth chasing. Then other times, it shoves them in your face so you don’t have an option.

I was once at this store called Mystery Bins about 45 minutes from me and got a security camera worth over $100 for about $12. How? Their business model is simple. They seem to be large scale resellers with a mystery bin twist. Everyday, every package has a set price for that day. Whether you buy 1 or 100, the price per package remains the same for that day no matter what’s inside it. But that’s the kicker, most of the time you don’t know what’s inside it because you can’t open it until you load up your cart and go to the unboxing station where you get to choose to keep it or not. If not, it gets reboxed. If you keep it, you pay the set price. Super cool concept with prices ranging from $1 a box on specific days all the way to $15/box on restock days. No idea if they barely skate by with thin margins or rake in the profit but they’re ALWAYS packed in the mornings. I know they buy pallets of returned items for deep discounts. The store also selectively takes other items out and sells them for a higher premium. My guess is they know those items are proven movers. Anyways, if you’ve never been in a store like this, now you know about it and the business model.

Nothing like a trip outside of NH to make you appreciate NH. Got a smoothie at McD in Vermont and of course it comes with a paper straw because of some stupid state law. 😭

The goodwill in our area has specific guidelines of what you can drop off. It’s also not dumped. It’s unloaded, organized and brought in to their sorting dock according to item they accept. Perhaps the unhappiness had nothing to do with us an everything to do with their life choice because even if you work a job you hate, that’s not the customers/partners/clients/suppliers fault.

Did you know Goodwill made $2.1 BILLION in revenue last year? They pay executives 6-figure salaries. They pay workers sometimes less than minimum wage via a legal loophole. They get their inventory donated for free then sell it back to the public. The thrift store for “poor people” is one of the most profitable nonprofits in the country.

I keep seeing posts about how bad the algorithm is. But I’ve had the opposite experience. New Connections, Friends, Business relationships Opportunities. So I’m curious… Is the algorithm really broken… Or just not being used right?

$75 cash, ended up offering to me for free, because of a broken leg. Fifteen minute fix. A guy with a box truck just rolled into the driveway. $200 cash. I’m not making this up, sometimes it really is this easy.

If you have ADHD and are trying to lock yourself in your room or office all day everyday to build a business, it’s in my personal opinion that you’re bound to fail. Not because I don’t believe in you, but for the past 10 years I have realized the things I’ve stuck with are the things that put me out in the world working with my hands, meeting people, enjoying the weather, solving hard problems and remaining in a subconscious state of chaos 24/7 for that dopamine drip. I’m a landlord. I run a farm. And now we’re building a recommerce business. Always something going 24/7 beyond a computer screen. That’s why you see folks with adhd become the top athletes in the world. The physical exertion and state of underlying chaos helps center the mind and puts you in a subconscious state of bliss. Even if reality doesn’t look like it. That’s just my 0.2 cents if you feel stuck. Shake up your life.

@C_Farthammer Recently put a pellet stove in our adu which I love. Was thinking of going wood before but the risk/reward ration seemed off. Did you put one in yourself and what do you do for safety?

The smartest thing New Englanders can do to not be a victim of high fuel prices or even higher electric prices is put in a wood stove. This stove heats my house better than the 20 grand new boiler, and way better than electric heat-pumps. The wood is free if you cut & split it.

Already told our plow guy who always wanted to start a snow removal business instead to start looking for pallets of snow removal items/heaters etc to store and sell in winter. We get some pretty cold winters in NH. The states with aggressive seasons can benefit greatly from this business I believe.

One of the biggest things I’ve learned with reselling… It’s not just about buying cheap. It’s about knowing who you’re selling to. I’ve learned real quick… stuff moves fast when it lands in front of the right people. Example: I picked up a pallets of personal heaters… A week later, coldest weather of the year hits. Didn’t have to get fancy. Didn’t have to sit on them. People needed them. They moved FAST. Had nothing to do with the product… everything to do with who needed it. Most people focus on sourcing. But the real edge? matching the product to a buyer that already wants it. 🎯 That’s where things start moving fast. Curious what’s been your fastest flip and why it worked 👇 — Would you follow me @donnyyoung ? It helps me reach more people with my story of building a reselling business in the margins of my 9-5. I promise it’ll be a good time! 😂

Sat down with the team at the farm and told them about an opportunity I stumbled upon thanks to @ShannonJean of building a local liquidation business in our neck of New Hampshire. I’ve never seen the crew so hyped in my life with a clear vision to eventually leave their day jobs and just work for the ranch full time. We recently ran reports of the area and being a couple minutes drive from 2 bordering states with sales tax when we don’t have any here may give us an advantage to grab secondary market buyers as well if we build up the brand. I’v recently joined Shannon’s mastermind but if you’re in the liquidation/reselling business I’d love to connect and learn all I can collectively. We all agreed that already have trucks and storage on the homestead makes this an opportunity we had to look into.

The thing about building a farm is you don’t have the opportunity to relax most of the time. Everyday weekends or not, you’re up at the crack of dawn working. Today I had the privilege to continue working on our new website as one of our crew went out and took care of the animals. We’re building the new official website on @beehiiv to share our journey. - Farming & homesteading. - Building a recommerce business. - Life Skills & Lessons. - Local news. & more. We plan to document our journey and show our dream as a family through our newsletter.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. Buying low - sell high is one of the oldest, most successful, proven blueprints of a business known to man. I used to work for a company where the CEO started buying second hand books and listening them on Amazon making a profit from his basement. Then overtime they moved into a warehouse and started buying pallets of books and flipping them. By the time I was with them they started buying more warehouse space every 6 months. It was one of the fastest growing companies in my area at the time. Absolutely incredible to have a direct experience with something I’m getting into now. We may not be focused on books. But the principal is the same.

@joedevguy You mentioned some good liquidations centers near me in NH. Which ones were you referring to my friend? Also are you generalized reselling or electronics specific?

I’m Donny. Husband. Dad. Pastor. And I’m building a liquidation reselling business in the margins of my 9–5 to help our family with some financial goals. Started with one Costco pallet from @bstocksol … now I’m flipping inventory locally and learning what actually sells. Some wins. Some losses. Plenty of “won’t do that again” moments. One of the biggest accelerators for me has been getting around the right people. The @ShannonJean $5 Reseller Mastermind has helped me avoid a lot of dumb mistakes and move faster. I’m not quitting my job. I’m building alongside it. Nights in the garage. Weekends with my family helping. Figuring it out as I go. If you’re into reselling, side hustles, or building something real without burning your life down… Follow along @donnyyoung I’m sharing what’s working (and what’s not). #reselling #liquidation #sidehustle #family

When I started reselling, I had zero community. Once I found other resellers, my business grew overnight. I went from selling here and there to making $10,000 a month in only a couple months time, and I am still only putting in "part-time" hours. I share everything here because finding the right people to inspire and motivate you will change your life.

@ShannonJean There’s 400 commercial acres near me in a small town. I’ve seen the mini tanks made over seas and imported down south for paintball parks really similar to these cars. Very cool small business idea when you start looking at mini versions of things.
