To this point, the most effective digital tools in accelerating education globally have almost always been foundational products that were *not* built explicitly for “academic learning”: google search, YouTube, better creative tools. Even Scratch, which is often talked about as an educational programming tool, is fundamentally about creativity and helping kids make games and animations etc. it’s a testament to constructionism!

What's the best content on "taste"

Taste develops over time and most people, billionaires or otherwise, aren’t good at the patience that taste development requires. In the earliest days of the Thiel Fellowship and now with 1517, we don’t have particular grand theories about the future, but we look for people who do or have an inkling of brilliance in that area. Then we give them one of the most precious resources, unencumbered time. This allows taste to develop and flourish. If we had looked at the ROI from the Thiel Fellowship in year 2 (which some people tried to do) most would say it was unsuccessful but in year 10 the ROI of those first two cohorts is undeniable. Patience is a fine seasoning and often missing ingredient.

I think it’d be cool if X had a perplexity-like search feature. I’d love to search for concept and get a single summary of what many people think about the subject and then dive into the individual posts as if they were sources.

It’d be super cool if I could create a similar tool that unlocks content from their applications. Imagine if you could start a project in one app and move it to another even if they’re not designed to do so. Like an interoperability layer based on the contents of your screen.
