I have an ask of all of you.
During last year's floods in Kerrville, my colleague Aaron Parsley and his family were swept away by rushing waters while still in their home.
Sadly, his nephew perished.
Miraculously, the rest survived.
Aaron wrote a reflection of the experience in the hours after, and it became one of the most-read stories @TexasMonthly has ever published, and went on to win a Pulitzer last week.
He recently completed a podcast in which he interviews other flood survivors and reflects on their experiences. It will premiere on May 26th.
Please listen to the trailer and subscribe. It'll help extend the reach of these important stories on the day it publishes.

Can’t wait to read this — in the months since the July 4 flood in Kerrville, Morgan has produced absolutely stellar coverage that only someone with roots in the community can. No one better suited to tell this story.

Some news. I am humbled to partner with Andrew Miller and Henry Holt to write my first book, THE RIVER TOOK THEM. Writing about the 2025 flood in my hometown is a heavy, necessary responsibility. Grateful to my agent Gail Ross, Olivia Metzger, & the entire team for their support.

@benaubey Appreciate you Ben. I see what you see, but we were not physically there when it happened. Until an official report comes out the language stays. That’s not wishy-washy or slanting, it’s acknowledging what we both see as well as the fact there’s more to be learned.

@BreakingChesky A regular viewer & I appreciate your straightforward reporting. Just a request regarding the Pretti shooting: you’ve said it “appears” he’s not brandishing his weapon. You see what I see - believe your eyes and report that he wasn’t. “Appears” is wishywashy

Rob Reiner’s impact on cinema is immeasurable.
Across decades, his work shaped how we laugh, how we love, and how we tell stories. From the razor-sharp satire of 'This Is Spinal Tap' to the aching nostalgia of 'Stand by Me,' the enduring romance of 'The Princess Bride' and 'When Harry Met Sally,' the suspense of 'Misery,' and the moral weight of 'A Few Good Men,' his films became cultural touchstones... endlessly quoted, revisited, and cherished across generations.
Rob told stories with uncommon warmth and clarity, moving seamlessly between comedy, romance, drama, and suspense. His work received an Academy Award nomination for 'A Few Good Men' and helped create moments that have lived with audiences for decades. In his films, we continue to find laughter, love, and a reflection of ourselves.

I loved Michele and Rob Reiner. They were among my closest friends. We raised our kids together, from mommy and me on up. We laughed together, we cried together, we played together, we dreamed together. We had dinner this past week, and they were in the best place in the their lives: loving one another, loving their friends, their family, their country. They never gave up on our country. They wanted to make it better. They always, always wanted to make our world better, and they were willing to fight to make it the country they loved.
I loved them, and I knew they loved me, for any friend like that is such a gift. They gave me and all their friends that gift all the time. They loved their kids so much, and they never stopped trying to be really good parents. My love is with their family. I’m so sad for them. I’m devastated, gutted, shocked, stunned, and so deeply saddened, as are all of the people who loved them and who they loved. I hope people remember them as two deeply talented, kind, fun, loving, good, patriotic people who loved each other deeply.
I’ll miss you, Michele. I’ll miss you, Rob. I love you both. Thank you for your friendship. God bless you both. Life will not be the same without you here, that’s for sure. ♥️

#RIPRobReiner Our careers and lives intersected often over the decades from Rob writing the pilot script for Happy Days and then as we each shifted from acting careers into directing and producing. He proved to be a superlative filmmaker, a supportive colleague and at all times a dedicated citizen. Rob will be missed on so many levels. My heart goes out to his family and his many close friends.

Michelle and I are heartbroken by the tragic passing of Rob Reiner and his beloved wife, Michele. Rob’s achievements in film and television gave us some of our most cherished stories on screen. But beneath all of the stories he produced was a deep belief in the goodness of people—and a lifelong commitment to putting that belief into action. Together, he and his wife lived lives defined by purpose. They will be remembered for the values they championed and the countless people they inspired. We send our deepest condolences to all who loved them.
