Let’s prove nothingberger wrong again, since he/she’s specifically targeting Thor Ragnarok. This will be another demonstration of how shallow the understanding of the so called “cinephiles” with Oscar winner dp is. Thor Ragnarok was throughout Thor’s journey. - The film begins with Thor defeating Surter, a mighty demon. -Thor comes back to Asgard to find Loki playing daddy. HE drags him to Strange to find Odin. - Hella appears, and guess who she hurts the most? THOR, by taking away his only weapon, who he thought his power depended on. (A major plot point). - Hulk met him at Sakaar, they fought but got back together. But it was THOR’s decision to escape the tower. - THOR beat the crap out of Hulk. - THOR convinced Valkyrie to help them escape. - THOR convinced Loki, who was rather comfortable in Sakaar, to come with him. - THOR contacted Heimdal, deployed Valkyrie and Hulk to defend surviving asguardians on the bridge, and THOR fought Hella head on. - THOR decided to blow up Asguard. “Bold move brother, even for me.” - Loki. Guess how he instructed Loki to do that? By resurrecting Surtur, who THOR himself had defeated and kept his crown in the vault. - In the entire Thor Ragnarok, neither Hulk nor Loki even once made a consequential decision or action. And whatever little they did, had THOR’s prior actions or current decisions written all over those. The very fact the you compared Thor Ragnarok with a film where the supposed central character would have remained trapped without voluntary outside intervention or could have never beaten anyone without any external support shows you’re just another trendy cinephile. You don’t know shit about movies. No wonder BvS went over your head. The hero SHOULD BE the help. He is the hero of the story, not a damsel in distress. Gunn himself has directed such a hero. Peter Quil, who fought his father head on the moment he found out his father caused his mom’s death. Peter Quil was the solution, not a problem for others to solve. So much so that he planned the attack on Thanos in Titan and it almost worked. Pick better movies to defend that one trick pony. He deserves at least this much help.
