FIRST GAME PLAY Rhode Island -2.5 (-105) vs Towson | 1.3u Towson simply hasn’t shown enough offensive juice to hang in this matchup. They sit bottom-5 nationally in 3P% (21.4%), bottom-20 in eFG% (42.5%), and their overall offensive efficiency is 213th, not the profile you want in a game where scoring will matter. Their defense is solid (98th), but Rhode Island’s balanced offensive profile matches up cleanly. URI isn’t elite from deep, but they still shoot a respectable 32%, and more importantly, they do real damage inside with a top-70 2P% (58%). Add in an 81% team FT rate (15th nationally) and you have a team built to close out a tight game. Towson’s best win is over Norfolk State (ranked 248), in a 51–41 rock fight, and their losses to Houston and James Madison (190th) showed the limitations of their offense when forced to keep pace. Now they step up to a top-100 Rhode Island team (KenPom) that leans on its scoring, very similar to JMU, only better.
