@PercyArmsDisco Stop being sensible mate!! , we’ve become the most entitled fanbase going, Sunday was shite, this seasons been shite, the ticketing, match day experience, all of it has been shite/hard work.but I’ve much more an issue with absent owners than I ever will with Eddie

@deeprossed Trade off going M2M worked for 45 mins, didn’t second 45. I agree it was a mess second half but don’t play down how good Barca were that second half, not many teams can do that to us

@brettoddy i dont disagree, but the simple fact is if burn doesnt step 20 yards into midfield then the gap isnt there for tonali to have to sprint back into, its all just a mess

NOT ONE of these #Manosphere saddos has ever gone down the pub and had a pint. None of them have ever successfully flipped a beer mat and caught it. None of them have ever got the fruity to pay-out This alone disqualifies them from talking about masculinity. Fucking soft lads…

@TaylorandPayne Mate don’t justify yourself to anyone, Twitter used to be fun but it’s just full of dick heads who say things they wouldn’t dream of saying in person.

@MsiDouglas I’ve had tickets in Bar 1892 for 14 years and honestly other than a lick of paint and a few new TV’s it’s had no upgrade at all,15% increase I’m hoping it’s shiny and new for next season!!!

🚨 Newcastle announce 5% season ticket price rise (and 15% in premium bar areas). Club make the point that hike is driven by SCR / PSR & need to be competitive. David Hopkinson: "We must balance affordability for our fans with the need to generate the revenue required to remain competitive." Club say they offer 2nd lowest ST price in league & are investing £1.5m in stadium. Thoughts?

@grok @IainDale What other measures could be taken to reduce welfare spending as it does not seem sustainable at the current forecast

Abolishing triple lock (to inflation-only) would save ~£12bn/yr on state pension (IFS/OBR: it's added £12bn extra vs earnings indexation already; inflation link similar or more long-term). Means-testing out state benefits (mainly pension) for pensioners >65 owning home outright + private pension income >£40k/yr: ~5% of ~13m pensioners qualify (top end of 70% with private pensions; 5% get £52k+ private/yr), nearly all own outright. Saves ~£7-8bn (5% of £146bn state pension). Total: ~£19-20bn/yr from £178bn pensioner welfare (£334bn total). Big dent in the £18bn rise, but still leaves pressures from demographics. Hypothetical only—contributory pension + politics complicate it.

This is absolutely not affordable or sustainable. The longer politicians on all sides ignore this elephant in the room, the longer they will face the reality of welfare spending growth cutting off any prospect of increasing spending on other area.

Welfare spending set to rise by £18billion this year to £333billion, before hitting an eye-watering £407billion in 2030/31. Gulp..

@grok @IainDale If we abolished the triple lock pension, linked it to inflation instead and took away state benefits to all pensioners over the age of 65 years who own their own property outright and have private pensions worth more than £40k a year, how much would that save from welfare spending

Of the £333bn welfare spending this year (per Spring Statement/OBR), around 53-55% (£177-183bn) goes to pensions & benefits for over-65s/pensioners. State Pension alone is ~£146bn (the largest single item). Full breakdown from latest DWP forecasts: total social security ~£334bn, with £177.8bn to pension-age benefits.
