This Griffon Vulture has lowered its head and neck to reveal two bare shoulder patches of pink flesh. They are ‘eyes’. The head and neck has become a nose, the shoulder feathers are ears and it’s transformed into a monster with a huge, fierce head.

Yesterday whilst hopefully searching for the Hooded Merganser in the Frampton area I was amazed to find this little cracker. 1st for 16 years in the Vale. It has been extensively searched for from dawn today but has wisely moved on. Unpopular opinion but I miss them #GlosBirds

@scoopwibbler Can't believe they just up and went when I came down on Saturday, was hoping to get them. Got me timings all wrong regards quite a few birds down there on Saturday, but managed to the main targets, which was good😊
