@MicrobesAndMe @ASP_Chat Therapeutic Drug Monitoring - getting concentration(s) of the drug that the patient is on to assess for efficacy and/or safety. We have established goals for some drugs, but this is an expanding area of research

@PMMabx @ASP_Chat @TomTolesToons @WHO Love that this infographic highlights not just the work that many of us do on a day to day in human patients but also the #OneHealth concept. A ton of abx use is in agriculture and the environment and it plays a role for all of us on Earth #ASPchat

Also important to control for different methodologies. Are the AST using updated breakpoints? Need to validate the data to make sure you are adding the right apples together. Also challenging if you have different patient populations and acuity. #ASPchat

@IDstewardship Regional antibiograms are only as good as the hospitals/clinics/labs that participate! Need to recruit as many as possible! Being thoughtful in how we compile to ensure the results truly reflect something clinically useful to the audience #ASPChat

@ASP_Chat @AdventHealth Being able to effectively communicate results to the decision-makers is so vital. The lab does a great job of producing a high quality result, the provider needs to understand when to expect their results and what they actually mean! #ASPchat

Q5. If you could have a 🔬micro lab resource to help bring 📣 awareness to AMR within 🏥🏩🏥hospitals, what would it be or what is it if it already exists? #ASPchat It can be a human resource, equipment, technology, anything!

@PMMabx @ASP_Chat Its a thankless job that many do not learn about until too late in their career path. Increasing visibility for MLS and MLT programs is really important to stymie the imbalance of folks leaving the profession vs joining #ASPchat

@ASP_Chat First and foremost, making microbiology lab staff visible/active contributors at an institutional level. Too often (especially pre-COVID) microbiology staff (both lab directors & technicians) are rarely visible/vocal contributors outside of microbiology/pathology depts. #ASPchat

@BRxAD @ASP_Chat @Wellcome_AMR As with other recent changes to lay persons' vernacular (i.e. PCR being used on the news), I think making "AMR" something than folks can actually relate to is critical #ASPchat

@ASP_Chat AMR is scary 😱, and means many things to different people We should look to other diseases that have had success in becoming household names and the support of patients to join in the defense of abx (CF, Breast cancer) thru ⬆️ uniform messaging & patient advocacy 🗣️ #ASPchat
