I've been in the space since 2020 and spent almost that entire time watching, learning, and providing strategic advice for more brands, projects, and founders than I can count. I think it's time I launched my own project. Inspired by Hal's famous 1993 post about Crypto Trading Cards, which is celebrating it's 31st anniversary today, we hope to capture the Cypherpunk vibes and the essence of Hal's thought experiment with @CryptographicTC Most of you probably know that I have some strong views on what an NFT Project could and should be. I hope to bring these aspects, and more, to CTC. - A platform built for collectors; the act of collecting IS the gameplay. - Art that's beautiful, emotional, silly, fun, scary, and everything in between. There will be a set of cards for everyone to collect! - A foundation for creating a trading economy. Buying and selling is fun, but what about trading to complete a set or chasing down that Legendary that's been slipping through your fingers? - A strong story and narrative. Hal's the namesake of the first collection, but who is The Cryptographic Trade Card dealer? Can't wait for you to find out! - Hal's original post oozes 90's aesthetic and coding jargon. The first collectable card set released will be generative art created with Hal's guidance by an extremely talented artist. Who? Make sure to follow to find out when the time comes. - A new take on a collectible trading card platform that nobody else is doing. We're focused on bringing back the fun of school yard collecting. Back to trading your Pokémon, POGs, and Magic cards in your spare time. To anyone who I have ever helped in the past, supported, or provided any value in this space; I'd love for you to join me on this journey. Follow @CryptographicTC, like the posts, RT, Comment, Share if you feel inclined, and follow along as the story reveals itself. If anything, this is going to be fun! P.S. The Discord link is hidden on the desktop. First 500 to find it will get a l33t role on the server, which will be the first to secure allowlist, among other perks within the community.
T3CH TRIALS@T3CHTRIALS

Patch Notes - v0.01 - Webpage uploaded - Initial Contact msg success - Basic settings - Easter Egg for the l33t (Only 500 available) This is just the start. Really inspired by Hal. Next patch on 1/21 - Messenger app - UX upgrade? - Fix login? cryptographictrading.cards

I have been on the fence about getting an Eight Sleep mattress, but seeing how easy it is for anyone in the company to query people’s sleep data and then publish the mined data publicly has made the decision easy for me.

Breaking news: The OpenAI drama is real. We checked our data and last night, SF saw a spike in low-quality sleep. There was a 27% increase in people getting under 5 hours of sleep. We need to fix this. Source: @eightsleep data

Shorter MLB games has stars playing more games. It's 20-30 mins less standing out on the field, which helps recovery. Braves 3B Austin Riley ran 45 miles last year for the infield shift alone (the shift was also banned this year). "Legs feel more fresh". mlb.com/news/new-mlb-r…

Someone just took a $14,500 loan on two Rolexes at 12% APR from a complete stranger all on-chain The Rolexes were sent to an escrow company who then sent back NFTs representing ownership of the watches The borrower can then use those NFTs to tap into global liquidity rather than taking a predatory loan at their local pawn shop If they default? The lender can use the NFTs to redeem the watches One of the most obvious and easy to understand use cases of NFTs

@12inchdobsonian @maccaw I’ve tried the microwaveable sleep mask when going to sleep to stimulate/open my tear ducts for the night. However, I haven’t thought of using it later in the night when I’m balled up sobbing in excruciating pain to help give some relief to my eyes. Good suggestion!

@brianburns @maccaw The best solution I found if that happens at night is a “bed buddy” heat bag, warm up less than the recommended amount so you don’t overheat the bag and place it on your eyes, and within 5 min the pain/dryness is gone and right back to sleep. The dry eyes are very painful

Everyone I talked to who's received lasik eye-surgery has said it was the best thing they have ever purchased. But there are so many people walking around with glasses because of FUD about the procedure. If you're eligible, just get it. In your early twenties if possible.

@vt__snowflake @polisisti @maccaw Yes they said I was borderline for Lasik vs PRK in the prior appointment and said they’d do a final corneal measurement the morning of to make the decision. I knew plenty of people who got PRK and said it was piece of cake, so I didn’t really think it was a big deal at the time.

@TheCoryLahey @maccaw For many people beyond a certain vision, PRK is the only option. Also, this does affect Lasik patients as well (but yes, it happens less). My Dr told me the day of the surgery they couldn’t do Lasik due to the thickness of my cornea (and amount of vision correction I required).

@polisisti @maccaw Yes this is true. I was hoping they would tell me I could do Lasik, but on the day of the procedure, they said I was not a Lasik candidate due to the thickness of my cornea (and the amount of vision correction required for me), so they did PRK.

@brianburns @maccaw Yeah, Alex was too confident about this. PRK and Lasik are different, and PRK has the highest probability of dry eyes. I'm looking at my options right now. Thanks for telling us, Brian, about your experience

@brianburns @maccaw Could be similar? The way my doc described fish oil was that it increases the viscosity of your existing tears. Maybe worth trying for a week? It really did solve my problem. a.co/d/0yKFRyE

@brianburns @maccaw Have you tried fish oil? It sounds like quackery but actually worked to mitigate my dry eyes for years now (which worsened after LASIK).

@maccaw Yeah no one checks out the dry eye forums before they get lasik /prk. It’s only afterwards when you discover you now have dry eye. Permanent dry eye after surgery like I now have is lower risk, but it’s worth knowing prior to making the decision (my doctor didn’t inform me).

Great take on the @Drake / @theweeknd and the importance of NIL in the AI landscape ahead. “Zero Trust Authenticity” as a solution: Assume almost all content on the internet will be fake. Let creators assert authenticity with a (globally) verified profile. #blockchain #NIL

Some cons... Bitcoin NFTs are essentially static assets that lack programmability (limited scripting ability). Also, there's a lack of infrastructure tooling and apps for even the basics, though they are coming quickly ex. Magic Eden recently launched marketplace support.

Bitcoin NFTs (Ordinals): 1) Fully on-chain (including the image/video asset) 2) Cost less to create than Ethereum NFTs 3) Arguably the most "permanent" media on the planet. ...and the BRC-721 standard was just announced. Ethereum or Bitcoin for high value NFTs in the future??
