@NicoleAuerbach Alabama beat Georgia and a massively underrated South Carolina team. Who else do they need to beat? Especially clear at this point the committee cares more about number of losses than quality of wins.

Alabama AD suggests that the Tide will change their nonconference scheduling philosophy moving forward. I'd argue they should do the opposite -- schedule marquee nonconference games because a big win can make up for a loss to a not-great SEC team in league play.

SMU has no business being ranked ahead of South Carolina after just losing to the team SC beat a week ago

If you punish SMU for playing in this game and losing at the buzzer, then you need to get rid of Championship games. It’s that simple.

@AubieSon If we had a fair system we would leave them both out. Neither should make it. SC beat Clemson at Clemson the week before and neither one of them has a strong quality win.

@WiscyT @ChrisVannini As a gamecock: Nothing about this CFP setup encourages teams to schedule strong opponents. If that’s the case then Alabama, South Carolina and Ole Miss would all be in and Clemson, SMU, Boise would all be out. However, SMU in over Alabama would definitely add to the absurdity

@ChrisVannini No, it will be GOOD for the sport. It will force some of these teams to actually schedule some decent OOC games and make the overall product of college football BETTER.

The committee was lucky the 12-team CFP was already coming when it left out FSU. If you boot No. 8 SMU from the field for losing on a 56-yard walk-off FG in an extra game and put in a 3-loss team, it's going to create an existential crisis in the sport.

SMU and Indiana are pretty much identical. Similar schedules, zero ranked wins, lost to the ranked teams they played. However, one is sleeping knowing they’re in the CFB Playoff… All because they didn’t play for a Conference Championship. Don’t set this precedent @CFBPlayoff

The playoff picture is now simple. SMU has earned the final at-large spot. If Alabama jumps them, it’s the most corrupt moment in a sport with a long history of corruption. Buckle up.
