Tonight, I was honored to partner with the @GoClingstones and host a Service Academy Night at the ballpark for six of the outstanding students I appointed to our country’s military service academies.  Sadly, the game was eventually rained out, but the fans were uplifted, as each appointee walked on the field with their families to be individually recognized on the jumbotron for their patriotism. As we reflect this week on the costly sacrifices made to defend our freedom, we are inspired by these young men and women preparing to attend the United States Military Academy at West Point, the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, and the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. Congratulations to Addison, Colson, Mahika, Matthew, Steven, and Travonte!

Today, I visited the hardworking Georgians at Timber Products Inspection, Universal Environmental Services, and GM Diecron who manufacture components, ensure secure logistics, and supply the launch system for NASA’s historic Artemis II mission. May today be a day we proudly remember, as humanity pursues our manifest destiny into the stars!

Congratulations, @USAHockey, on winning the Gold Medal! Before today, only 37 Americans — from the trailblazing 1960 squad and the Miracle on Ice 1980 team — had ever won an Olympic Gold Medal in Men’s Hockey. Now, 25 Americans — led by the heroic performance of Connor Hellebuyck — from the 2026 team join this exclusive club. Our Country’s men’s and women’s hockey teams are now the best in the world! This week, we passed the SAVE America Act, legislation that requires photo identification to vote and proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote in federal elections. 83% of Americans support this legislation, and the House of Representatives passed it with a bipartisan majority yesterday. Now, we urge the Senate to send this legislation – overwhelmingly supported by the American people – to President Trump's desk for signature! Senator @BasedMikeLee is leading this effort, and we are grateful for his relentless advocacy to ensure our elections are secure for generations to come!

Yesterday, I welcomed U.S. Secretary of Education Linda McMahon (@EdSecMcMahon) and Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones (@LtGovJonesGA) to Coweta County. We toured the Central Educational Center in Newnan and held a roundtable discussion on education and workforce development with bipartisan state and local leaders. This was the 8th visit by a Member of President Trump’s Cabinet to our Congressional District during my first term, and we’re already planning the next one, to showcase the incredible things happening across our part of Georgia!

In 2026, as our Country celebrates the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, my office will likewise commemorate the history of and heroes from our Congressional District. Today, we honor the date Georgia ratified the United States Constitution. 238 years ago, on January 2, 1788, 26 Georgians, elected as delegates to a special convention, assembled in Augusta and ratified our Country’s Constitution, becoming the fourth state to do so. Pictured is the building at which the delegates likely convened, which has since been demolished. The Georgia Historical Society erected a marker to remember its location on Bay Street in Augusta. Decades later, the first counties in our Congressional District would be created, but this day, 238 years ago, was the foundational moment for our Great State of Georgia.

Today, I was honored to welcome the U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Scott Turner to Pike County! We visited two churches, met with parishioners, and shared our testament of faith. This was the 7th visit by a Member of President Trump’s Cabinet to our Congressional District this year, and there are many more to come!

As President Trump seeks to achieve historic peace in the Middle East, Radical Left Democrats are recklessly advocating for a federal government shutdown tomorrow night. Last week, the House of Representatives passed a bipartisan solution to temporarily extend government funding as negotiations continue, but Democrat Senators have refused to support it unless illegal immigrants are awarded taxpayer-funded healthcare. Our country mourns the loss of Charlie Kirk. Charlie was a Christian, a father, a son, and a leader with whom many of us enjoyed working. Charlie led a movement that was organized through the simple principle of respectful political discourse. The structure of each of his events was built around direct, civil dialogue across college campuses with America’s future leaders. Until yesterday. There is a growing ideology infecting our country that teaches its depraved adherents that people of different perspectives are not worthy of life. We must defeat this evil, and serve swift justice to those who perpetrate it. May Charlie Kirk forever Rest in Peace, and may his voice and approach to free speech be remembered for generations to come.

It was an incredible honor to welcome Vice President @JDVance, Administrator Lee Zeldin (@EPALeeZeldin), and Administrator Kelly Loeffler (@SBA_Kelly) to my hometown of Peachtree City. We celebrated President Trump’s Working Families Tax Cuts and historic deregulation efforts that have unleashed economic prosperity across Georgia’s 3rd Congressional District and our entire country!
