I have spent time in different African homes, and the dynamics were not the same. In one, the husband handled the cooking while the wife took care of cleaning up. In another, I stayed for a week and never once saw the wife in the kitchen. These were both Christian families, living out their values in ways that worked for them. Marriage is not a fixed script; it is a partnership. People lean into their strengths and build around what works in their home. If a man cooks more because he enjoys it or does it better, that is not anyone’s concern. It is simply what works for them. The idea that roles must be rigidly assigned does not show real life. People adapt. They adjust. They create systems that make sense for their reality. There is no single template. What matters is that both people are on the same page, supportive of each other, and intentional about how they run their home.

Good day everyone, my name is MaryRose. I'm a medical student at the LAUTECH TEACHING HOSPITAL and this is a fundraiser post. A couple of weeks ago, precisely on the 16th of April, 2026, there was a fire outbreak in Ogbomoso and the building affected was a students' lodge. Two of my classmates and friends lived in this hostel. We were in school, having a laboratory practical session when they were informed that their hostel was on fire. In a couple of hours, the entire first floor of the building was razed and only the ground floor was unscathed. Unfortunately, one of my two classmates was affected by the fire. She lost everything she had save for the dress she was wearing and her school bag. Everything was lost. Things she had gathered over the years. Her clothes. Her textbooks. Her stethoscope. Her documents. Everything was lost. We know that we cannot possibly imagine or fathom all that she might be going through right now but we have decided to step up, as her friends, and help in the little way that we can. And that is the reason for this fundraiser. Over the next couple of days or weeks, we are hoping to raise five hundred thousand naira to help one of our own get back on her feet. We will appreciate any form of help during this period, in cash or in kind(clothes, shoes medical school textbooks, medical instruments etc). If this post comes up on your page, please take a moment to read, donate and share. Let's come together to help our classmate and friend smile again. This is the account details for donations: Account number: 9169573988 Account name: MaryRose Abimbola Malomo. Bank: Opay. Thank you for your kindness. God bless you.

Two of my classmates were affected by this fire and one person lost everything that she had. My classmates and I are planning to do a fundraiser to assist her. I will post it tomorrow or next and I hope she gets helpers.🥹

My biggest prayer point right now is clarity. I need clarity. I need to know what to do and how to do it.

I hate when I vent and someone says “some people have it worse”. Please, just shut up. Why does my pain have to be compared to someone else’s for it to be valid?

I love lawyers arguing on the TL. Key words: lawyer to lawyer argument. Not lawyer to non-lawyer. Everybody usually has a point, counter convincing arguments and interpretation of matters. Always so interesting to read. ❤️

@Oluwanonso_Esq I once read a judgment wherein one of the Defendants who instructed the co-defendant to shoot someone was convicted for murder. The Judge highlighted the fact that a lawyer will not be shocked at the outcome and then went ahead to explain the rationale.

I love judges that write for the public to understand their judgments. They try to give as much information as possible so we can follow the facts and reasoning.

I once handled a court case that reminded me why I chose law, not for love of money, not for fame, but principally for humanity. He walked into my office one hot afternoon, clothes worn, eyes tired, voice shaking. A grown man who had cried himself dry. He had been locked up for about 1 year and 3 months over an offence he didn’t commit. No connections. No money. No one speaking for him. His crime? Being poor and powerless. They had framed him because he couldn’t fight back. His family sold almost everything to see him released. They kept visiting him in custody. His children dropped out of school. His wife started hawking just to survive. Yet the system kept crushing him like he didn’t matter. When I listened to him and studied the proofs of evidence, my heart sank. Nothing added up. Statements were forged. Timelines were twisted. Evidence was clearly manufactured. But because he was 'nobody,' no one cared to look twice. We took the case. Each court date came with fear and suspense for him. Some days, it felt like the walls were closing in. There were moments I wondered if justice would truly speak. But we pressed on. We asked the hard questions. We exposed the lies. We stayed patient. We stayed human. Then came the day of judgment. Silence filled the courtroom. When the words "discharged and acquitted" were spoken, the man collapsed from relief. A free man at last. Grown man wept. I wept too. Outside the court, he held my hands and said, "You didn’t just save me. You gave my children their future back." That day, I didn’t just win a case. I restored hope. If you ever think one voice cannot change anything, remember that justice still works when someone is brave enough to stand for the helpless. And that is why I practice law.
