Given the amount of interest a tweet showing a photo of an empty cycle lane got, I thought it's a good time to bust out this one again. Cycle lanes and footpath don't appear congested as they (mostly) allow people to move through quickly and efficiently.

@ciarancannon @rteliveline 1) I think the problem is that cyclists overplay the vulnerability. Like they'll come out right in front of a car as they know the car won't run them over, especially when there's a bunch of cyclists together and instead of forming a line they start to eat up the road.

Most broadcasters won’t say this: our roads are not fair, and they’re not neutral. Some people are far more vulnerable than others. Credit to Kieran Cuddihy for saying it on @rteliveline this week. Our laws, road design, and enforcement must reflect that simple truth.

So remember the bike shed that Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael wasted €335,000 on? We just found out tonight that €100,000 of taxpayers money is to be spent on another bike shed at the National Maternity Hospital. It is outrageous wasting money like this when so many people are struggling. Things should not be this way. This plan must be stopped.

Dublin city's first static speed camera has come into operation on the Crumlin Road in Dophin's Barn rte.ie/news/2025/0801…

Cars observed travelling between 40-50Kph is also down from 31% to 24.4% . Early days yet but a very promising start.

Here's the reduction in speeding observed on Crumlin Rd on the first full day of speed camera in operation. Speeding(>50kph) is down from 12.6% to 7.7% -comparing the last two Saturdays. @calmcrumlinroad @GardaTraffic @DarraghOBrienTD

@rtenews Why would you need a speed Camera on the Crumlin Road. Traffic does not go very fast there! Perhaps it's a NWO camera! Maybe it is part of the 15 minute city plan 😏

This fucked up opinion of roads is why people die. large Dave cannot for a second abide by the idea that the safety of 6year old to cross the road should be prioritised above the convenience of a driver.
