100% we know what to do: ✅Support Primary Care infrastructure, ✅expand team based care, ✅ensure PC integration. A commitment to make Primary Care truly foundational in Ontario will bring benefits in the short & long term & the whole system will function better.

We have been talking about what primary care needs (Patient medical home w/ infrastructure, funding etc) for over a decade via @famphyscan. We know how to fix this. Now need political will.

Rant: The current standard of care in lichen sclerosus is REGULAR use of topical steroids. Even if people don’t like the idea. That’s it. Chronic treatment for a chronic condition like diabetes or hypertension. NOT as needed use. Also emollients. Not laser. Not PRP.

In Canada, we need better data to prevent maternal mortality. Critical to this is understanding how discrimination and inequities including racism, ableism, and poverty impact maternal outcomes. Ignoring tragic outcomes and disparities will not fix them.
André Picard@picardonhealth

Maternal death is rare in Canada. But it’s not rare enough. We need to count, study and learn from tragic cases to do better prevention, by @picardonhealth theglobeandmail.com/opinion/articl… via @GlobeDebate #childbirth #pregnancy

I’ve never met someone who liked a pap. I’ve met many who avoid getting them for various reasons. It’s time for governments to support HPV testing and allow self collection. Hpv tests are better at preventing cancer than paps. Sign and share. We need you change.org/p/give-women-t…

fantastic 🧵 by @actioncanadashr on what you can do to take action on abortion rights in Canada. I would add for Ontario folks - our provincial election starts tomorrow. Don't hesitate to ask candidates where they stand and how their party will support universal ACCESS #OnPoli.
Action Canada@actioncanadashr

As we grieve the news of the leaked Roe v. Wade decision and its devastating implications, we must also remember to mobilize to protect and advance our rights here in Canada. Here is a list of things you can do to take action for abortion rights:

A few months ago, in that blurry haze of new motherhood, I left my infant daughter Eureka on the couch for just a few seconds. She rolled and slipped and tumbled to the floor, hitting her head, then burst out crying. /a thread to #SaveMelissaLucio

I , a cis woman, have felt unsafe in these interactions. If this is what I get from wearing a badge, what are my trans/ genderqueer colleagues experiencing just by existing outside of a binary?

PLEASE get your #CovidVaccine if you are pregnant. It is safe at ANY time. It does NOT cause infertility, fetal anomalies, etc. It DOES reduce the risk you or your baby could get a life threatening illness. As a high risk OB, I only want what is best for my patients!!

PSA released by @SickKids, @CHEO, @mch_childrens and @KingstonHSC says Ontario hospitals are starting to see "disturbing, potential new trend — admissions of infants with COVID-19." Since mid-December, CHEO/McMaster have admitted 6 infected babies, all from unvaccinated mothers.

#TransDayOfRemembrance is today—a time to honour the lives of all transgender people who have died due to acts of anti-transgender violence. “I am no stranger to the need to fight for our rights, and the right to simply exist is first and foremost.”

November 20 is Trans Day of Remembrance. We honour those lost to violence, those who live through violence and transphobia, and recognize the need to disrupt the violence and oppression that trans people continue to face. Get involved: bit.ly/2YYA68j #TDOR

Dr. Chaudhri was an inspiration. I followed her story, my heart simultaneously breaking for her pain, and aching with love for her, and her end of life mission to support underrepresented scientists. So when my vague abdominal symptoms a few months ago, I thought of her.
