At a certain point, someone has to question if the win is about the brand of the distributor or actually indicative of the quality of the Palme winner.

You seem really bitter at an artist using their own expression in a truthful manner that fulfills them as opposed to work that caters to you and that’s just sad. It’s completely your right to not like Jane’s films but the extent that you’re attempting to police perception is…odd
Siobhan Ebert@AwardsObsession

Dear ally Film Critics you don’t need to like a film by a trans auteur just bc they are trans. I don’t like any of Schoenbruns films; basically just depressing crap. I want more films by trans women and men that dabbles in trans/queer joy, not self-absorbed emo dread #Cannes2026

In an industry where there are filmmakers who are actively sexually assaulting people on their sets, being politically neutral or blatantly right winged, THIS is the most annoying thing?? lol I know EXACTLY who you are

@dougcutchins @JerseyShade They literally tried several times to get Michele out in the endgame of WAW bc she was the main opposition to the power alliance lol

@JerseyShade “Has never been voted out” = dragged to the end by other winners in season 40 as a zero vote goat because they knew she posed no threat to win.

It’s definitely Michele… she has never been voted out, outlasted EVERY winner except Tony, won clutch challenges and had the best reads at the end game. If it wasn’t for extinction she absolutely would have got a few votes

"The movie is the talking" very very obviously meant something different to Lynch when he was saying it than what people are trying to apply it to now with PTA to save face, it's really pathetic

The world holds so much misery that miserable hearts forget the face of happiness. They grow comfortable being sore losers, so when they see real sportsmanship it unsettles them! like holy water touching a demon. Because clapping for someone else’s victory requires something many people never learned…how to win with grace & pure joy, and how to lose with grace, chin up & dignity.

I know damn well y’all ain’t on this internet telling Teyana Taylor how to act at an awards show.. Nah. It's her first Oscar nomination, she’s had an incredible year & it's Women's History Month. We're not doing respectability politics for no damn Oscars. Shut that shit up!

@ black cinephiles/film twitter, cease the narrative that [black] ppl dislike/criticize One Battle After Another because they dont like immoral characters nor uncomfortable themes to impress your white friends on here. At least half of black cinema has uncomfortable themes.

I appreciate everyone's optimism that Coogler will be back but... He's only the seventh in 98 years, and none of them have been back. We still haven't seen a Black woman, or Latina woman or an Indigenous person nominated. We are still banging down so many doors for FIRSTS here
Luis A. Mendez@MendezMovieRPT

Mark my words, Coogler will be back. PTA was Coogler's age when he did THERE WILL BE BLOOD and I can't wait to see what Ryan does next.

@AKlay19 So you’re arguing that his win, with an international voting body that clearly didn’t prefer Sinners, is stronger than a top 2 BP player with an industry win

@brittjohanoti I’m saying that the two times he’s been nominated at a major precursor, he lost to somebody who hasn’t won an industry award (CCA) and he beat the SAG winner (Globe). And he’s not up against the BAFTA winner either.

@AKlay19 @JRParham Please be serious. You know that a precursor split is very different from only one person winning in the category. The Penelope comparison does not work unless you eliminate context. If your gut is telling you to do Madigan then just say that.

@brittjohanoti @JRParham That means she was the person with the most major precursor wins. You know who that also describes? Madigan.

Gotta be honest that predicting Madigan still doesn’t feel quite right. Going with a lone nominee that’s not a sweeper goes against every bedrock principle I’ve ever used in predictions. But it’s hard to choose between Taylor and Mosaku. I’m still very torn about this.

@AKlay19 Are you genuinely arguing that it was a good thing that he missed the BAFTA longlist because he wasn’t able to lose as a nominee???

@brittjohanoti How about this: he’s the only person nominated for the Oscar who didn’t lose at BAFTA.

@AKlay19 @JRParham Yes, that’s just an inference, but we do know for a fact that she was the only nominee who won a precursor at all, which is not the case this year…

@brittjohanoti @JRParham There’s no way of knowing that for sure. No matter how you cut it, Penelope Cruz lost CCA, Globe, and SAG.

@AKlay19 @JRParham That’s completely different from losing a precursor and being fully not nominated from another. If Kate wasn’t an option throughout that season, Penelope would’ve just won every precursor
