"I think the guy to look at this summer is Morgan Rielly. It feels like a change would be good for both sides. If they move him, they have to get a D-man in return. They need to get bigger on the backend and move mobile on the backend," Alberga on Toronto blueline @Sports1440

@Kgill39 If money is the reason he's leaving Pitt, what makes you think EDM would a) have the money and b) want to spend it on him?

@nic_lic06 @disclosure2x @ThomasDrance Both of his teams largely outplayed the other and lost, created offence while minimizing chances against in lockstep. That's an indicator of structure. Unfortunately, he found the 1/10 you lose playing that way. Twice.

This year Jon Cooper coached two of the best played structural games of the decade: with Team Canada in the Gold Medal game, and in Game 7 tonight vs. Montreal. He was on the losing end of both games. #Hockey

Oilers need to pull off another 3 Podkolzin type trades for this team to turn it around. List who you think would be an under the radar signing for cheap. For me it’s: F - Michael McLeod D - Ryan Shea G - Nico Daws

Hello to the fans of the @EdmontonOilers and anyone within the organization who may read this, Yesterday, I was asked by someone close to the players and PR staff why we’ve been hard on the Oilers organization in recent years. I was also told that, to some within the organization. That’s not something we ever set out to be and it’s important to explain where we’re coming from. A lot has changed over the past few years. Some of those changes came when Stan Bowman arrived, and others when Jeff Jackson came in. We still had a decent relationship during Jeff’s first year, but once those two came together, things shifted in a way we didn’t expect. During the time Ken Holland was GM, we had a strong relationship with the organization. We were given access to Morning Skates, where we brought in minor hockey teams kids, coaches, and parents to experience something special. Those moments meant everything. Kids got to watch NHL practices up close, meet players, coaches, scouts, and team personnel. Sometimes, we were the only guests there outside of media. It created unforgettable memories and inspired the next generation of players. Then one day, it all stopped without explanation. Our requests to bring teams to Morning Skates ended, and we never received a reason why. We tried reaching out, including emailing Stan Bowman, but got no response. That was disappointing, frustrating, and honestly, upsetting. Since then, we’ve occasionally gone directly through players to create similar experiences but it’s not the same. To be clear, we don’t believe this decision came from the PR staff. In fact, we believe the PR team is among the best not just in the NHL, but across all major sports in North America. @AndrewPeard @SweetJimmyC We go back to the very beginning meeting Harrison Katz through Bob Stauffer. From that moment, we built something special over four incredible years connecting minor hockey players with NHL players and showing young athletes what it truly takes to be great both on and off the ice. Bob was also a huge part of our podcast joining us monthly and kicking off every playoff series with us. That all changed in early 2025. Bob’s last appearance on our podcast was January 7, 2025. By March, our relationship with the Oilers had broken down, and we still don’t fully understand why. During the 2025 playoffs, Bob told us he wasn’t allowed to come on our show anymore because our podcast had been flagged by the organization. We’ve known Bob for 20 years. He’s been nothing but supportive, not just professionally, but personally. He’s helped me through some of the toughest moments in my life, and his care for people especially around mental health is something I deeply respect. On his final episode with us, Bob told me I needed to give the Oilers more “sugar.” And he was right. That’s on me. We’ve been too critical at times. We haven’t always shown the balance or emotion the way we should have. That’s something we’re going to work on moving forward. We do have our own opinions on leadership decisions within the organization. There are things we could say publicly but we won’t. That’s not what this is about. This is about understanding, accountability, and hopefully, moving forward. We know there’s been a love/hate relationship between our podcast and some fans. We believe we’ve had our reasons but at the same time, it shouldn’t overshadow the bigger picture: The players, PR staff, and ownership have done incredible things for this community. They’ve helped create life changing moments for minor hockey players in Edmonton. They’ve made kids feel seen, valued, and inspired. And that matters more than anything. Whether those opportunities ever return the way they once were, we don’t know. But we’re grateful for every moment that did happen and we’ll continue doing everything we can to create those same experiences, even if it means going about it differently. Cheers Bosco. #NHL #LetsGoOilers

@DonovanPaulson lol ya - not because they're well rested, have had a full summer in the gym and have the physical capacity to get after it. It goes beyond back to back finals runs. They've been hard it for four seasons. Arrogance tho - k.

@brrrads There are so many teams that went to back to back finals and didn’t have this type of season the year after. If you want to role out the red carpet of excuses go for it. Next season you’re gonna see a team that takes it seriously cause they realize they let themselves down

The Oilers felt like a very arrogant hockey team this year they approached the regular season like they were owed a playoff spot and never found the right process. There are some leaders who need to do some serious self reflection in my opinion. #LetsGoOilers

@DonovanPaulson So you're either injured, or 100%? You don't seem to want to accept the possibility that being worn down could impact the teams ability to perform at high level. Completely setting aside the fact the Oil finished their eastern trips before Christmas and the grind this brings.

@brrrads Barkov didn’t play the entire year due to a freak off-season warm up skate incident. Tkachuk played 31 games. These two situations aren’t even remotely comparable lol. The Panthers were the injury team.

@EdmontonOilers Hockey is almost over for another year. Only Montreal hanging on. Pretty soon we'll have to start counting the years since Canada won the Cup by DECADES. Then centuries. Then millennia. You'll have to ask your Great, Great, Grandfather about the time the Leafs won. Oh well.

@brrrads Teams have gone to a lot more than 2 Cups in a row. I think the fatigue angle is getting overplayed, it gives them too easy of an excuse imo. Injuries absolutely has weight but when you play like that all year it’s arrogant to think we’re the oilers we can flip the switch

@DonovanPaulson I'm not letting them off the hook, but I am giving you a pretty good reason for why they were inconsistent. What's the root cause of the inconsistency? For McDavid being -8 in the series? It's the same reason. It's not arrogance - it's mental and physical fatigue and injuries.

@brrrads There’s doing the bare minimum and then there’s taking something for granted. The Oilers took the process of the regular season for granted. You don’t need to be a juggernaut, but you at least need to find some level of consistency and a process. You’re letting them off the hook.

@DonovanPaulson having to play another 82 low stakes games (compared to playoffs) just to get back to the start of a 2 month grind. It'd be like building a house and it burning down on move day. How excited would you be to build it again? Are you showing up every day with a jump in your step?

@DonovanPaulson You're way overthinking it. They approached this - and last - doing the bare minimum to get into the playoffs. Hard to get up for games mentally and physically after two consecutive cup finals. The issue being the amount of hockey taking its toll and the mental hurdle of.
