Oh here we go! Yes, I agree this is PART of the equation. The other half lies in humidity, and where it becomes critical to flavors/terpenes drying in LOW humidity below 40% if conditions can't be optimized and sometimes it's not possible for a variety of reasons to get humidity up. When it dries faster IF not flushed properly so the plant process most Nitrogen before harvest, the faster transpiration begins to lock in chlorophyll that can't be cured out. Once water is mostly gone the uncured vegetal matter is what's tasted. Flushing prevents low humidity from ruining terpenes/flavors during drying because it's accelerated. Flushing is NOT necessary or as critical when humidity has slower transpiration rate to dry in. It took me 2 of my first harvest as a young grower to realize I can't dry as suggested or recommended by books, I had to adjust for low humidity conditions. It made sense to flush the plant of excess nutrients and what's stored up before drying, and my Blueberry harvest tasted great. No grassy/hay/greentaste to speak of. Optional for cleaner burning smoke yes, but much more critical with low humidity to dry harvest in, normal to higher not so much. That's my take 🤓
