@bryan4208 @StreamlineDeet @haugejostein That is exactly how you will lose. All your former allies will turn to China if they can get a better deal out of China without having an orange faced man threaten them with invasion. Luckily he is now busy with another war he can't seem to end.

This is wild. People in *every single one* of the top US allies now think it's better to depend on China than the US. The global balance of power is clearly tilting away from the US and toward China.

@bryan4208 @haugejostein You already tried with the idiotic tariffs, but ended up hurting yourselves even more. Meanwhile, Europe and Canada (and the rest of the world), have spent the past year quietly shifting away from the US. Soon, you won't have any influence left at all.

@disclosetv LOLs at all the hardcore Euros screeching “You should have asked nicely” over the last 48 hours while their governments slowly realized they had been out-manuevered -again-.

Dangerously Hot Take: Jessup is the antagonist of the movie, but he's completely right and the moral of A Few Good Men is a big part of why the military has such a problem with mutiny, sabotage, and malingering. The military is not a frat house or social club. It is an organization that exists to kill the enemies of the United States and break their stuff. Military units require hard men able and willing to follow orders, suffer brutality, inflict harm, and work as a team. Historically, that means strict rules, harsh punishments, unit-enforced standards, and a troop-based immune system that weeds out weak links in the team that could get everyone killed. In A Few Good Men, Santiago is blatantly writing letters to anyone with influence offering to "trade information" for a transfer. The real Marine it was based on, Alvarado, was salty that conditions at Guantanamo Bay weren't very comfortable and the information that he offered to "trade" was an accusation of an illegal shooting by his comrades—which was never substantiated. This is not some super uncommon thing. Bad troops will make up all sorts of things to get out of doing any real work. I worked with several Santiagos. I had to do Article 15 paperwork on Santiagos. By the time I left the military—nearly ten years ago already!—it was becoming very challenging to do *anything* to deal with Santiagos. Bradley Manning was a Santiago. Bowe Bergdahl was a Santiago. Whoever set the fire aboard the USS Ford is a Santiago. Our military is now dangerously full of Santiagos because we've neutralized the immune system against it. Civilization depends on the implicit threat of violence and the military is where those threats are made good. Nothing maintains unit discipline and cohesion like the occasional good old fashioned beating. Change my mind.

I fully realize Nicholson was the bad guy in this film, but Trump has got to feel this way when dealing with the gutless wonders that pretend to be our “allies.”

@32nds @gfodor Except with Beijing we are also going to deliberately cut some EU “allies” out too. I’m over simplifying it but Trump will say “There are 27 EU states + Britain. We only have room for 20 of you to join the new alliance.” It will play out like the scene from the Joker

this picture, long ridiculed by morons like Kristol, was the beginning of a long, well-executed plan to line things up so when the inevitable war came to the Middle East, it would be "everyone vs Iran" with today's attacks, that plan now seems completed

When a Pokémon's HP reaches zero, the game says it "fainted" but they actually die. Do you tell yourself "oh no my Pokemon got KO'ed" or do you say "My Pokemon just died?" Let's look at what actually happens: • The Moves: Pokémon are hit by Flamethrower (a stream of fire), Earthquake (ground splitting open), Hyper Beam (a concentrated energy blast), and Thunder (actual lightning). These are kill shots. Nothing "faints" from being struck by lightning • The Items: Revives are called REVIVES. Not "wake-up potions." Not "smelling salts." REVIVES. The item that restores a fainted Pokémon is literally named after the act of bringing something back from the dead. MAX REVIVE. They're not even subtle about it • The Pokémon Tower: Lavender Town's Pokémon Tower is a GRAVEYARD for dead Pokémon. Pokémon CAN die. The game confirms this. If Pokémon can die, and they're being hit by lethal attacks, then "fainting" is a corporate-friendly word for temporary death • The Nurse Joy Machine: The healing machine plays a jingle and fully restores Pokémon in seconds. From "fainted" (struck by Earthquake + Flamethrower + Hyper Beam) to perfect health in 3 seconds. That's not healing. That's resurrection technology so advanced the Pokémon world treats it like a vending machine • The Economy: Revives cost money. Healing is free. This means DEATH is monetized but RESURRECTION is socialized. The Pokémon world has a public resurrection infrastructure so normalized that nobody questions it The franchise changed "dies" to "faints" so parents wouldn't complain. But the items are called Revives. The attacks are lethal. And there's an entire tower full of Pokémon that people didn't care to resurrect. "Fainted." Sure.

@FurkanGozukara @TheMadHessian Why wasn’t Iran already imposing this levy and earning this $73 billion last month, back when they still had a navy, an air force, and their top ten levels of leadership?

Brilliant move by Iran. They are planning to levy a 10% toll on all ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. This will generate $73 billion a year, completely offsetting US sanctions and paying for war damages. Checkmate.

As the artist behind the image you shared in this post, I think it's rather disingeniune to say "The art direction is why people don't play Infinite anymore." The art direction was never the problem with Infinite. It's the lack of content and how they handled customization.
Whaccd // Whitaker@Whaccd

I'll be the guy to say it. Halo Infinite Spartans look like toddlers who found crayons compared to actual Halo Spartans. Nothing against this person in particular and I'm happy they found their look they like. I disagree with this art direction, and the playercount does too.
