One of my favorite aspects of Cato Institute modeling is that if two illegal immigrants come here, have an anchor baby, and put it in public school? That doesn’t count as immigrants using public resources. That goes in the citizens column lol.

The Arcane Texas Fact of the Day: It was 54 years ago today, on March 9, 1972, that citizens of Lubbock voted to allow the sale of beer and liquor by the drink at establishments within the city limits, putting an end to its claim as the largest dry city in the United States. However, with bottled alcoholic beverages not available within the city limits, "The Strip" developed at the edge of town in the years following. One reader told me that she loved going to The Strip with her dad when she was a young girl because it was like a "mini Las Vegas, with all the lights they had. It was kind of exciting for a youngster in Lubbock." Looking at this photo, which is courtesy the @LAJ_Photo , I can see that. Any of y'all have any memories?

While everyone has moved on, I remain deeply troubled by Trumps threat to wipe out an entire civilization. No American president has talked in such terms. No American president ever should.
