@jmmahaffey My kids now have food aplenty, but they are food-insecure. They hoard food today due to past starvation. This is what I think when I hear the term "food insecure", they are not confident in where their next meal will come from. (Life in foster care)

Who came up with the term "food-insecure"? A white-washed, academic phrase that is totally tone deaf to the desperation and despair of poverty. Does it make it easier to talk about when we don't acknowledge the impact of suffering? Does it really give that suffering more dignity?
