SCAM BY THE TROVE TEAM
Trove Markets was marketed as a perp DEX for trading exotic and illiquid assets:
collectible cards, watches, CS2 skins, RWA, even fractions of prediction markets up to 10× leverage, no ownership of the underlying asset.
On paper, it sounded ambitious.
In reality, this has become one of the most blatant and toxic cases of early 2026.
TIMELINE
1️⃣ Announcement & Token Sale
The public sale of $TROVE ran from January 8–11, 2026.
Target: $2.5M at a $20M FDV.
Actual result: over $11.5M raised.
Oversubscription refunds were not issued.
~5 minutes before the sale ended, the team modified the smart contract and extended the sale.
Markets immediately reacted especially the Polymarket event tracking the total raise. Large orders appeared in the book.
~40 minutes later, all changes were reverted.
But only after the team had:
opened positions on Polymarket before the first announcement
closed them before the second one
On-chain details and investigation were published by ZachXBT.
2️⃣ Abandoning Hyperliquid
After the raise, the team abruptly announced they were abandoning Hyperliquid and launching on Solana instead.
Official reason: “loss of a partner and trust.”
The issue is simple: Hyperliquid was a core pillar of the sale’s marketing and investment thesis.
3️⃣ TGE AND −95%
$TROVE launched on Solana.
The very first candle: −95% from the sale valuation.
FDV collapsed from $20M to below $1M.
The team drained almost all liquidity, leaving roughly $50K in the pool.
Instead of refunding oversubscription in dollars, participants received heavily devalued tokens.
Investors who put in $10–20K walked away with hundreds of dollars.
4️⃣ REFUNDS AND SILENCE
With oversubscription exceeding $11M, the team later announced $100,000 in refunds to ICO participants while keeping roughly $11,000,000 of the raised funds, including the full oversubscription.
CONCLUSION
In my view, this is one of the most brazen rugs in recent memory.
Formally, the platform exists. In practice, this looks like a clean extraction of investor capital by the team.
I never promoted Trove and did not participate in the sale.
On X, I only covered:
the team’s manipulations
trading against their own sale participants
the use of Polymarket as a profit-extraction tool
This story would’ve passed quietly if not for the scale and audacity.
$11M of investor funds were effectively appropriated.
Current FDV sits around $1M.
There’s a Polymarket event on tomorrow’s valuation. Under normal circumstances, I’d consider a “NO” position but with this level of manipulation, I want nothing to do with it.
