I was doing door-to-door sales selling a boring-ass subscription to a TV network (you would get some magazine and support the network for a year). I was 17 at the time. I ring this doorbell and it turns out there was a house party of like 15-20 ladies in their 30s. I pitch this lady at the door my thing. She says, “If you want, you can come to the garden and pitch it to the entire group and have a drink with us ” I was a bit confused at first but it seemed like a good opportunity to make a sale, so I followed her inside and to the garden (which was pretty big). She turns off the music and tells them to listen to me, lmao. I was pretty new to the job but made my pitch, asking them if they want their favourite TV show to continue. Then like 4 of them said they would subscribe, and the lady herself said she would if I took a shot. I did take that shot of, I think, Jäger or something, and just sat there making 5 sales while drinking rum and Coke with them. My boss then called me asking how I made those sales so quickly and where I even was, as they had not seen me ringing doorbells for so long. Then I came back to the shift after what must have been almost an hour and was feeling pretty tipsy, and had the best score of the day by the end of the shift lol.
