@Q2turnQueen Usually chart a CPOT and behaviors. Our pain assessment includes nonverbals and one of the options is nodding yes

When your patient is intubated but can nod for yes or no appropriately. What do you put when they say yes to pain? Because we always have to do a pain scale 0-10 and I want to just say “pt said yes to pain” 🤣🤡

@Asexxuall Do you do okay with dairy? Personally I love this brand of protein shakes. Aldi also has protein yogurt that’s like 20g per serving and I blend it into smoothies. Might help once you’re a couple weeks post op

Hi this is just a reminder that if you are fully in your right mind and still cussing at the staff trying to take care of you… that’s verbal abuse. You can be mad at your situation, you can be mad at yourself, but you don’t get to take it out on your nurses and caregivers.

@Asexxuall Right. So I’m supposed to eat zero carbs and drink some detox tea or something? A complete sham

@JustJ_RN 100%. I remember the first year I had to do RQI and the mannequins actually worked. As a new grad in the ICU codes made me so nervous but I KNEW I could do cpr correctly. Now we just teach the whole hospital how to do incorrect CPR and hope for the best I guess? 😐

@JustJ_RN Me today doing my ventilations by squeezing as hard as I possibly could while twisting the ambu to just BARELY get enough volume 🙄 I’ve yet to encounter a patient that is as difficult to bag as these worn out mannequins

If your job doesn’t pay you what you’re worth, just make sure to take advantage of your benefits. The most important benefit is your FAAFO time, on those slow days better use it or lose it

@AmyHerrell @ModerateFERN Fair point. I’m all about continuous monitoring but if it’s not accurate, the patient is at risk

@ModerateFERN For an appropriate population though, this could be incredibly helpful in preventing the need for an insulin drip at all.

@ModerateFERN I would be curious how accurate cgms are at the extremes. POC glucometers all have limits, the widest range I’ve come across is 30-600. But still inaccurate with low hct, edema, vasoconstriction. If you’re ill enough to need an insulin gtt, would a cgm be accurate enough?

@jduffyrice Doesn’t matter if it’s 7 weeks or 38. Doesn’t matter if the pregnancy was wanted or not. Doesn’t matter if there’s a heartbeat or not. If the woman’s life is at stake due to the fetus, it is her choice. Every woman deserves the option of a safe, in hospital, abortion.

@jduffyrice All the mentions arguing that this isn’t an abortion are missing the point. A D&C is abortion. This woman’s life was at risk. An abortion is warranted any time a woman’s life is in danger due to the fetus. You don’t get to decide what constitutes danger for another.

Hello yesterday I had to restart an IV with the patient already on the CT table, prone, while my attending and two med students waited in the control room. Small, crooked veins and fragile skin. Got that sucker in and dressed in 90sec flat. Never been more proud of a 22g 😂
