@AdamSchefter I assume they both have bye weeks beforehand? If not, the league needs to abandon all the "player safety" rules due to sheer hypocrisy.

@whiskey_mike33 @PolarGinger @FrostyBias By '96 the NBA was watered down by expansion. I don't care that they won 72 games, the '91 & '92 teams were better because the league was better, IMO. But none of Chicago's 6 title teams are beating a healthy '86 Celtics squad--who played without Wedman in the Finals, by the way.

Walton, Wedman and Sichting was better than Bulls bench which had Kukoc. Get a clue
JoeyGrecoLives@GrecoLives

@GlobeBobRyan @Hero_OfThe_Day That’s cute, Bob. The 1985-1986 Boston Celtics are one of the most overrated teams of all time. They had NO bench (sorry, Bill Walton doesn’t count), and they didn’t have ANYONE who could guard prime Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen.

@Howie6149 @brandi_love @Canes @NHL I honestly think they've expanded too much to get rid of regional considerations. The league is all over the map. But they could go straight 1 vs. 8; 2 vs. 7, etc., in each conference & dump the Wild Cards. Alternatively, copying the NBA's "play-in" system is an option, I guess.

@buckyeffingdent @brandi_love @Canes @NHL this format is trash, has been for yrs, go back to the 1-8 or maybe better yet the 1-16 and scrap the conferences....bettman is too out of touch to realize what everyone else has, that as i said the format is garbage, but he needs to go as well, time has passed him by

I find it hilarious that people are winging about the @Canes being good. Either pressure the @NHL to shrink the number of teams who make the Stanley Cup Playoffs or shut the fuck up. Why should teams.. any team who plays hard all season & earns a #1 ranking be forced to play the hardest teams first? That’s penalizing success.

@brandi_love @Canes @NHL The only solution would be to nix the concept of divisions and conferences and go 1 vs. 16; 2 vs. 15, etc. They did that 1 year (1981) when there were 21 teams, and it made for an interesting tournament. But with 30-plus teams spread out all over the map, it's not really logical.

@brandi_love @Canes @NHL The current system is fair enough. The "wild card" concept of recent years has added a flavor that didn't exist before and guarantees (almost) that a good team stuck in a good division doesn't get left out of the tournament for a team from a weaker division, which happened a lot.

@EssTeeFYou @Super70sSports I honestly think Springsteen lands on any Top 10 most overrated list. I liked the first 3 albums but never understood how "Born to Run" somehow landed him TWO "news" magazine covers in one week. I always felt media hype drove a lot of his popularity/success. But what do I know?

@buckyeffingdent @Super70sSports Absolutely. I recall getting the 3 cassette live boxed set around 86 for Christmas. Listened to it once, never again. I just could never get into his music. Seger, still listening. He’s a top 5 favorite artist for me.

Bob Seger is better than Bruce Springsteen. I don’t know how many of you are joining me on this island but I feel like it will be 50% geniuses and 50% guys who make women instinctively lock their car doors.

@BSF34 @FrostyBias Yes, officially. But everyone in the organization saw the writing on the wall at that point. The team (except Bird) had tuned him out. I think it began late in the '82 season. They'd won a title & were still basically a young team. Couldn't take the drill sergeant stuff anymore.

These "break up the J's and blow it up" takes are wild and typical of the social media age. In 1983 these folks would've been saying "break up The Big 3" after the humiliating sweep vs. Milwaukee. Fortunately, Red took a more measured approach that summer. Worked out pretty well.

@FrostyBias Right. Something to consider. I'm reluctant to kill a guy who won a title just 2 years ago and who did a good job with a squad missing its best player for 4 months this year, but their style in the post-Horford and post-healthy-Porzingis era isn't getting it done in the playoffs.

@shoothoops43 @FrostyBias In retrospect, it's amazing how few moves Red made that summer after a frustrating reg. season and poor playoffs. He brought back 9 of 12 guys. He stole DJ from Phoenix, of course, eased old/aging Ford & Tiny out of the picture, and added guys 11 & 12 in the draft (Kite/Clark).

Gotta admit--I didn't expect the Red Sox to be this big of a dumpster fire. Certainly thought the pitching would keep them afloat until the offense figured it out. It's still early, but it can get pretty late pretty fast if the early part of the season tanks too far.

Here’s an awesome video of a bunch of kids from New York City sharing their thoughts on the New York Yankees releasing The Great Bambino, Babe Ruth. Crazy to think these lads are like 8-12 years old and they probably could kick my ass without breaking a sweat. The year is 1935x.

@NickyZzZz1 @Alex_Nooge I simply disproved your statement that they had nothing but good luck for the last 50 years. There was a 20-year stretch inside those 50 years when they had nothing but bad luck. Facts are facts.

@AirJordans2323 @celtics @NBA @Jumpman23 @FPLHazardous His broken foot was only about 85% healed at that point, too. Crazy. In Game 3 they just doubled him every time he touched the ball. It worked, since MJ didn't have much help in those days. Celtics also put on one of those "1986 Celtics" passing clinics to close out the series.

40 years ago today. April 20, 1986. Michael Jordan torches the powerhouse eventual champion @Celtics with 63 points. Greatest scoring performance in @NBA playoff history. Unbreakable. #TheLastDance @Jumpman23🐐 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆 Credit - @FPLHazardous

@FrostyBias @puffusthecat I forgot about the 2007 lottery because Ainge managed to salvage Ray Allen out of that draft, which led to KG agreeing to be traded to Boston. But yeah, that was a big stroke of bad luck, too.

@puffusthecat @FrostyBias Let's not forget the Duncan lottery in '97. They had the best chance to land him and somehow ended up with the 3rd pick. If that's NY or LA holding those cards...🤔
