@WGR550 Yep, as the cap approaches 123 mil in the next couple of years, 4 mil will be the new going rate for utility players like Krebs moving forward. Not a big deal

Peyton Krebs provides a lot of value as a player that can play all over the lineup, but does his toolkit carry enough weight to justify his new 4-year deal with a $4.5M AAV?

@OwenP29 With the cap going up by another 20 mil over the next 2 years, 4.5 mil for a 4th liner is the new 2.5 mil for a 4th liner. But I'm still trying to fugure out how this team has 4 mil left in cap space and only has 1 60+ pt fwd on the team.

@MattKopnak Don't like to see young players regress in points. They should almsot always be able to improve yr to yr. But a lot of young offensive dmen regress when they are trying to focus on the defensive side of the game. He should have a bounce back, but if he regresses again, red flag.

@Sabremetrix Does Larkin not understand how the cap works? He keeps adding teams that can't fit him under their cap. And no team is going to want to give up a good young player like Johnston to get him. I think the best the Wings might be able to do are some picks and a decent prospect

@JeremyWGR Does anyone honestly think Tuch is going to be worth 10-11 mil a year by the time he turns 32/33? Skinner fell of a cliff when he turned 31. Not saying that will be Tuch's fate but history shows far more players fade after they turn 30 then excel

7 years after signing, a one time high of a 6 mil hit, for team that had 76 points and signed a desperation deal (for a player that had value to a team that then benched him yadda yadda) is NOT the case against Tuch you might think it is.
Zzzzzz@KalahadF

@JeremyWGR As a reminder to everyone we have over 6m in dead cap space for Jeff Skinner this year.

@BraytonJWilson You are one of the ones that will just die on the Power stinks hill. Your probabaly one of the ones that wanted to run Sammy out of town too before his age 25 yeatr. Just admit you were wrong about Power and get over it. Also no team wants anything to do with Norris

@scottcwheeler I'm actually rooting for Marner to win a cup because Marner winning a cup to really set Leafs fans off outweighs Eichel winning a second. I think that would be hilarious

Sidelines in Buffalo (great sports bar) with a very pro Carolina crowd here celebrating the win. The Golden Knights really are the heel in every other market.

@SNY_Mets @WillSammon Only baseball players that don't want a cap are the 5% that are making 40-50 mil abyear like Soto. But a cap also brings a floor, and some many of the greedy owner bottom feeders would have to start paying the bottom 95% of players just to get to the floor

The Athletic's @WillSammon got Juan Soto's thoughts on MLB's first proposal of a $245.3 million salary cap. From Will: "If the salary cap proposed in Major League Baseball’s first offer this week were to take effect next season, more than 20 percent of the New York Mets’ theoretical cap space would account for just one player: Juan Soto." Soto: “Baseball is doing great. We’ve been increasing every year. It’s been great for baseball. We are in the best moment in baseball right now in all kinds of ways. Why should we have a cap?” Mets union representative David Peterson: "It works in basketball in that way because they don’t have as many guys, so you have a lot less guys for the pot to go around, and that’s a league where one or two people on the team pretty much sell the team. That’s a lot harder to do in baseball.”

@_MontyBurnham_ @FOS No owner is "losing money." Revenue sharing and National/local TV contracts guarantee that. Even of they lose money on paper from ticket revenue, they are making money. Otherwise they wouldn't have a team. Would be insane to own a business that loses money every year

@FOS A lot of those teams lose money annually, now they are going to lose a ton more…revenue, expenses, and attendance should be a factor. It’s 81 games…it’s different

If the Sabres want to make a move and bring in a big-name player this offseason, they'll need to trade away some significant pieces. Jeremy shares the 5 assets he thinks are most likely to be on their way out of Buffalo this offseason!

@NotTheJoeMarino You get EP and move Tage back to wing. Tage then becomes your Tuch replacement. Tage playing with a bonafied assist guy would get him to 50 goals. EP to playing with Tage gets him back to 60+ assists and 80-90+ pts. Gives us a 2-3 year window with those 2 in their prime together

Here’s a guy that the Sabres can probably get to be their top line center that they can get without trading Helenius or Östlund But it may be risky now Elias Pettersson Year 3/8 $11.6M 27 years old Can’t imagine they’d retain salary but cost should be low

@NotTheJoeMarino Yep, I think we've been kicking at the EP bucket for a few years now. Canucks are in full rebuild. They also have 2 aging goalies with big contracts that are no good to a rebuilding team. They need top 4 dman help and a young backup goalie. Does Kess and Levi help you get EP?

@MattKopnak Kess is entering his age 27 year. He was a 6th round pick. Not convinced he wasn't just a product of the system in Utah. But even if he is a true top 4, they are valuable assets in the NHL. Kess as part of a package could still net you a top 6 fwd assests if GM's see him that way

Quinn is a former top-10 pick with term, team control, and 51 points this season. Mrtka is a 6’6” RHD taken top 10 last year. Kesselring is a 6’4” RHD who was highly regarded a year ago. Add this year’s 1st and you don’t need Ostlund or Helenius as chips to upgrade the team.

@WGR550 Sabres have the elements. They need a 1C and reliable goaltending. And no you don't have to replace Tuch if he walks. If you get a 1C and move Tage to wing he becomes Tuch's replacement

@WGR550 It's easier to win a Super Bowl then a Stanley Cup. With that said I would not want the Sabres and Bills to share anything in common except maybe ownership. The Sabres are actually in better shape to win a cup in 5 years right now then the Bills are to win a Super Bowl

@WGR550 I'm willing to take a long look at Ellis. His very first year in the NHL at age 25. He was a lot better then Levi was in the AHL and has been better in the NHL then Levi so far. Ellis was also a better prospect then Levi too. Ellis 3rd rnd pick and Levi was 7th rounder

@JackHannah1042 @WGR550 He's a 7th rnd pick that has regressed year to year in college, AHL and NHL. He is not showing any ability to be better then his previous year. Big red flag. Can count on 1 hand the number of 7th rnd goalies drafted since 2005 that actually have been good. Move him while you can
