Sport is the purest measure of ambition we have. A country uncomfortable backing its best athletes will struggle to back its best scientists, artists and builders. Canada says it wants to compete with the best in the world. But winning requires more than talent. It requires prioritization, investment and systems explicitly built to produce champions. We need to be honest about what must change: - Make it easier for Canadians and companies to fund athletes directly - A target of $50,000/yr income floor for verified senior national-team athletes - Build a permanent Canadian Sport Endowment - Give our champions the status they deserve Today, I published Play to Win, Canada with @buildcanada

In 2023, Canadians donated $233M to sports… but Americans donated $5.6B to NCAA Div. 1 alone. We may cheer on our teams, but our systems & culture don’t fund them enough to produce global champions. The Russia-Ukraine war has shown the importance of drones to a modern military. Before 🇷🇺's invasion, 🇺🇦 had seven drone manufacturers. It now has around 500. We can't wait for a crisis to get serious about domestic defence procurement. We need builders like Landing Zones.

Among the 13 planes, 5 of them are Canadair CL-415s. Following Quebec's chronic and worsening forest fires through the early 1960s, Canadair built the CL-415's predecessor, the CL-215. The CL-215 could skim across a lake, scoop up water in about 10 seconds through probes in its hull, and drop it on a fire. In 1994, after years of revised and improved models of the CL-215, the Canadair CL-415 entered service. Today, CL-415's are used by 🇪🇸, 🇮🇹, 🇬🇷, 🇫🇷, 🇭🇷, 🇲🇦, 🇺🇸, 🇲🇾, 🇵🇹, 🇮🇩, and 🇪🇺 (as part of the rescEU program). After last week's Council of the Federation meeting, it has become increasingly clear that interprovincial trade file is struggling to progress. ...which, if we intend to unify our national market, is not acceptable. Direct-to-consumer alcohol sales was a commitment set in June 2025 for May 2026, now almost complete in July 2026, and it only covers a sliver of the alcohol market. It's one in a series of overdue targets – incl. the Mutual Recognition Agreement for Goods and Canadian Electrical Codes. Alcohol is the easiest of the interprovincial trade file. It's the one with public support, industry backing, and a decade of political promises behind it. It begs the question – will we be able to reach our upcoming deadlines, or is the political will fading on interprovincial trade? We're tracking progress over at: buildcanada.com/trade-barriers

Next year, Canadians will carry Terry in their wallets again when the Bank of Canada begins the printing of the new $5 bill featuring his face and the Marathon of Hope. 💵

In 2005, the Royal Canadian Mint celebrated 25 years since the Marathon of Hope with a run of 44.3 million Terry Fox loonies. Check that change drawer! 🪙

The Gordie Howe International Bridge opens today! This morning, I got behind the wheel of a Michigan-built Ford Mustang to mark the official opening.    I fought to open this bridge to build the economy and connect Michiganders to opportunities on both sides of the Detroit River.
