Touching down in Baltimore after being in another country is always so damn emotional and I don't even know what this feeling is.

Of course I knew Nancy Pelosi's father Thomas D'alesandro was mayor of Baltimore but I somehow didn't know her brother was mayor too. Listening to her book now and it's good so far. Stop political violence!

I'm taking my therapist's advice and not snapping on people that have dumb opinions and gracefully presenting the error of their ways.

@Natrone86 @salliebwhitney @BmoreCityDOT And this is actually part of the reason I shared the video, community has requested traffic calming here before. It usually takes an incident like this or worse to get people's attention. The stop sign was only put there after a hit and run but it's not enough.

@salliebwhitney @buildingbmore @BmoreCityDOT Even if you take the scooter out of the scenario, the driver didn't stop for the sign or the person with visible intent to cross the street. Clear candidate for a driver safety refresher course along with speed bumps along those streets so even the scooter slows down.

Today at the planning commission hearing I shared a story with @BmoreCityDOT to illustrate the urgent need for traffic calming in our communities. Here's the video of the incident I described. I was encouraged by the new director's commitment to these issues.

@Natrone86 @salliebwhitney @BmoreCityDOT Not to mention (as you did) that the pedestrian had the right of way, so it was reasonable for the scooter to assume that the car would stop... at the stop sign.

@salliebwhitney @buildingbmore @BmoreCityDOT Well the thing is the scooter is going under the Idaho stop protocol so if they don't see a reason to stop it isn't necessary as it's a waste of brake wear and power to the battery. It wouldn't have killed that car to stop, but that car could've killed from not stopping.

@mddirtlaw @BmoreCityDOT I raised this issue specifically. If police won't do it more cameras are needed.

@Natrone86 @BmoreCityDOT Yup, all of that. She stopped long enough to see if she killed anybody then kept going. Little boy was ok, father was righfully shook up.

@buildingbmore @BmoreCityDOT What's crazy about this video is that they weren't stopping for the guy who was in the crosswalk and then caused someone who had the right of way to hurt themselves with their child.
