NBA Commissioner Adam Silver issued the following statement today regarding the passing of Memphis Grizzlies forward Brandon Clarke:
“We are devastated to learn of the passing of Brandon Clarke. As one of the longest-tenured members of the Grizzlies, Brandon was a beloved teammate and leader who played the game with enormous passion and grit. Our thoughts and sympathies are with Brandon’s family, friends and the Grizzlies organization.”

@grizzzlam @BrianJNBA Agree. We dont usually draft the wrong guys. We will see how it plays out
English

@bulletproofrew @BrianJNBA but this just isn't a draft where there's a clear #1 on the level of cooper, wemby. grizz are committed at least for a minute to iisalo. i think the math maths out for boozer. but thankfully i'm not the one who decides and i think those who will are good at what they do
English

@grizzzlam @BrianJNBA hope so. glad to have a a discourse of peterson/boozer/wilson over ament, flemings acuff.
English

@bulletproofrew @BrianJNBA bart database for top teenagers by bpm. grizz will get one of them and it will be good

English

@grizzzlam @BrianJNBA he is absolutely a lottery pick. but we are talking about 3, a defining draft for the grizzlies. are you drafting a very good, 2nd/3rd option level player. or are you getting a guy who can lead a franchise? cus in this draft you proly sdnt settle on a guy who has to play a role
English

@bulletproofrew @BrianJNBA absolutely deserving of being a lotto pick and a good fit with what the grizzlies have on the roster and want to do from an offensive and defensive system perspective. may be an all-nba player. it would be a very fortunate pick
English

@grizzzlam @BrianJNBA oh, for sure. but, what do you do to sperate a player from those? there are 15+ players you can roll off half a dozen thigns they do well. but what is he AT THE NEXT LEVEL. thats where finding those archetypes helps. Coward was a huge example of that.
English

@bulletproofrew @BrianJNBA spending so much time trying to find or debate archetype comps for boozer is silly imo. helps more to talk about what he is: strong as hell, good handle, shoots it well, high level of feel, good/quick decision-maker, good passer, holds his space, good touch, good rebounder, 18 yo
English

@grizzzlam @BrianJNBA this is lazy. yes, there are extreme outliers like jokic, giannis, and whoever
the point of looking at what cam is/can be would be looking for a path to get there. sure he could make his own lane. but the concern would be, its been tried. where does he succeed, where those didnt.
English

@bulletproofrew @BrianJNBA people love to seek patterns when players are usually unto themselves. you begin to oversimplify and lose details by trying to fit everyone into a pre-existing box. again this is not meant to compare boozer—imagine trying to make an archetype comp for jokic pre draft
English

@grizzzlam @BrianJNBA how so? i think archetypes are pretty important to see how someone can fit into the nba. sure there are players that break the mold, but that is the exception not the norm. and those usually have elite traits
can a small 4/ with somewhat limited athletic ability lead a franchise?
English

@bulletproofrew @BrianJNBA i think trying to make archetype comps is sort of a fool's errand, so i don't really care much about that. boozer would be a great fit and will be a good player
English

@grizzzlam @BrianJNBA he doesnt pop as an athlete. randle did. just with strength over speed.
if you want a more 1 to 1 athletic profile... i still stay tobias harris. but this IS more of a archetype take. i get you are more saying his athletic ability shouldnt hold him back (but i do disagree)
English

@bulletproofrew @BrianJNBA only correction id make is i dont think randle is slow. it was more to illustrate that boozer isn't too slow, which some have said
English

@grizzzlam @BrianJNBA i realize this. and i didnt say that. i said your saying randle had slow food speed it didnt slow him down. but that doesnt equal cam having slow foot speed and it working was my point.
English

@bulletproofrew @BrianJNBA you're missing the forest for the trees. nobody's saying these players are analogous archetypes. you've taken a comparison purely about speed and turned it into arguments about player archetypes not being analogous. that's not something i said or argued about
English

@CHIEFdaGawd @Matt_Infield Love coming out was considered a top flight recruit. idk if cam looks better than love. that seems like recency bias.
English

@bulletproofrew @Matt_Infield I'm getting older, but I think they averaged around the same rebounding wise, and true Cam looks a lot better than Love at this point of their careers, but same body types (Love was actually measured at 6'7) and Cam might be more athletic
English

@BrianJNBA @grizzzlam shai is a 6'6 lead guard who is a very good athlete, elite scorer.
joker is a 7'1 2nd round draft pick who is a all timer passing big and elite rebounder, and great shooter.
boozer is a 6'9 average athlete who is not comparable to these two at all.
English

@grizzzlam @bulletproofrew The last two MVPs are both "slow" relative to their position
