There's this entire myth that loads of people are faking/exaggerating sickness for some social/financial benefit, but the reality is that most people are actually pretending to be LESS sick than they are because that's what society demands.

the 1-10 pain scale system is so odd to me as a neurodivergent person because what do you mean how much pain am I in? usually? right now? this morning? in the evening? what is 10? burning alive or the worst pain I have personally experienced?

Today a doctor asked the question most disabled patients dread… “What do you want ME to do about it?” I wanted to scream: Your job! Help me! Solve the problem! Provide treatment! But I didn’t. I remained calm. I avoided being “difficult” I left with no answers 🧵

You’re telling someone who needs 1:1 care to wash, eat, and stay alive that they’ll get £3,000 less a year—because it might “encourage them into work.” They can’t even dress themselves. This isn’t just cruel. It’s dehumanising. #UniversalCredit #CrueltyNotCare @UNHumanRights

Labour have opened the doors to the most vile ableism I’ve ever witnessed . Years of understanding re Autism, ADHD , disabilities and mental health advocacy washed down the drain and replaced with a barrage of hate. Shameful.

I think medicine in general really under-acknowledges how toxic the patient-doctor relationship can be & what a mindfuck that is E.g., patients whose symptoms are dismissed that then turn out to be serious rely on the very same doctors/teams/system to actually help

Anybody who says "genuinely disabled people have nothing to worry about" has clearly never interacted with the DWP or been through an "assessment"

Another day, another example of madness in this UK. We’ve all lost the plot.

He tried to start a riot in his first grade class. He stood up on a chair and asked the other kids why they were okay with being treated like dogs- being told when to eat, being sent outside and then forced back in, getting sent to the calm down corner for complaining.

Wes Streeting is talking about training many more GPs. Lots of GP trainees coming out of their training schemes this summer face unemployment because he will not give the NHS funds to offer them jobs. What Streeting says and does are totally different things.

So many don’t talk about the part with chronic illness where you eventually have to do it in silence. People get used to it even though you haven’t, and people get tired of hearing about it.

i hate how doctors will act like YOU are overreacting to something when you have been REFERRED TO SEE THEM. i am not a doctor!!! i went to see my gp and they advised me to come here!!! that's why i'm here!!! i didn't know you existed!!! they referred me!!! it wasn't my choice!!!
