@bungo_datch @elonisaloser1 @seamus_coughlin God. And I know you're going to say that you don't believe in him. But even if you don't believe God exists (He does), at least I am basing my morality on something transcendent, beyond just "my preference". Your moral philosophy, on the other hand, is rooted in preference.

@GomezJimvi @elonisaloser1 @seamus_coughlin I dont really care about the harm future generations will experience, because i dont really know what it means for someone that doesn't exist to suffer. I care about the harm that living people will experience, the people that will grow up and die.

@bungo_datch @elonisaloser1 @seamus_coughlin -t too. For example, I assume you believe that destroying the planet is evil, because it condemns future people to pain and suffering. But if all that matters is consciousness, then that's not evil at all. Because those people are not conscious, they don't even exist. That's j-

@GomezJimvi @Umbra1230969 @elonisaloser1 @seamus_coughlin Again, good and bad are relative and subjective. Some people are masochistic and like the feeling pain causes, most people aren't. Our time is short and fleeting, all we have is what we are and what we feel. So balanced harm is important to us because it makes up who we are.

@Umbra1230969 @GomezJimvi @elonisaloser1 @seamus_coughlin That's never the contention. The heart of the dilemma is trying to balance the harm to the mother with the harm of the fetus. Before 20 weeks, there is no mechanism to experience harm on the fetuses end of the dilemma, thats the why the cut off is set there.

@GomezJimvi @bungo_datch @elonisaloser1 @seamus_coughlin This is why I "became pro-life". PC-ers never presented any arguments. It's just infinite fallacies and strawmanning, like "you just want to control women's bodies". I mean no, I think the pro-lifers think abortion is murder and I'm happy to take them in good-faith.

You may not understand it because this is not taught schools anymore, but all of your rights depend on a transcendent moral standard. Moral objectivism.

@GomezJimvi @elonisaloser1 @seamus_coughlin No, its like demolishing a building that isnt being rented as opposed to blueprints of a building. One has more value because of the existence it had before. That's why corpses and brain eldest people get some amount of moral consideration; because they were once people.

@GomezJimvi @elonisaloser1 @seamus_coughlin No, because he has had, and will have the ability to deploy a conscious experience. Now, this is disanalogous to pregnancy, because there is a person to speak of that would be harmed if he were to killed. Its the same reason that sleeping people aren't killed for sleeping.

@bungo_datch @elonisaloser1 @seamus_coughlin Imagine a person suffers an accident and so he falls into a coma, but doctors say that he will recover in 9 months and for sure become conscious later. Should the parents have the right to disconnect him and kill him just because he's not conscious now?

@bungo_datch @elonisaloser1 @seamus_coughlin -ust one example. I'm not saying both of those things are equivalent, I am just using that as an example that consciousness is not everything regarding morality. To continue this conversation we need to clear something up: How do we know what's good and what's evil?
